((((((())))))) enormous hugs. Keep your peckers up - there will be something else out there for you. And with any luck your losses with OH being laid off will be mitigated when you finally get your settlement from the previous employerEx board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0

Well, how things can take a nose dive in just a few hours eh...
OH was laid off this afternoon - his boss said there wasn't enough work coming in.
Bit gutted at the moment, this has been such an awful year.
Sorry to hear this. But IIRC, he found another job pretty quickly last time around. It sounds as though he is very employable so try to be positive.
It's not him - "It's the economy, stupid"Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
I have just sat through and read your posts - and was so sorry to hear that your OH is faced with unemployment again - you really have had your ups and downs this year. I stumbled upon your post because My OH is facing unemployment (different circumstances but devastating all the same). I have every faith that your ET will be successful for you both and that you will triumph - it seems a little trite to say but the support you have shown your OH is outstanding and a little humbling. You are an inspiration and instead of sulking (like I feel like doing) I will support my OH.
Please keep posting I would really like to raise a virtual toast  to you when the judgement goes in your favour in the new year.
The very best of luck0 -
Thanks everyone - he has an interview lined up today already, so fingers crossed!
lola - sorry to hear you are going through similar. I don't know if you have a thread running (will check once have posted this) and if you don't, please let me know how you are getting on with things.
I have to feel a little sorry for my OH really, I have dragged him into all of this - he would have just taken the hit and let the matter go back in April (chalk it up to experience) but I hate to see someone treated unjustly, especially when it happens to other employees as well. Also, his employers being cocky and telling everyone that it would never get to tribunal really made me get the bit between my teeth, arrogant so-and-sos.
Also, the support (as you have seen) from members of this forum has been incredible, I myself would have been lost a long time ago without their guidance.
When it comes down to it, you can either sink or swim...and by giving your OH all the support you can your relationship will be a hundred times better for it.

Good luck with everything.
You should get your husband to post on these forums. I see too many threads "cry cry there are no jobs boo hoo I've had no interview and I've applied to thousands waaaah give me more benefits". Maybe he can explain to these "unlucky" people how he did it.
It sounds like he just has the right attitude towards work. For this, I wish you both all the best.0 -
Big sigh of relief - OH got the job he went for yesterday!!! :j
Another pay cut, and it's a trial period, but it will see us over christmas and past the tribunal, then we can take stock after that.
So he finishes at the current place on Fri, and starts at the new place on Mon. I'm quite proud of him, that's not bad going for during this 'economic climate'
And so the story continues....:o:rotfl:Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. :cheesy:0 -
