Halifax Fixed Rate Rip Off?
Comments

Just a further comment on Halifax and its "systems"/paperwork for handling ISAs.
Received this morning 3rd request for indentity documents EVEN THOUGH I visited a branch last Monday morning with the documents and in a seperate envelope another transfer authority form - I returned two forms over a week ago.
I'm beginning to regret ever starting this fiasco!!!!0 -
I'm in the same boat as you. Had a "Halifax ISA Saver Transfer in receipt" this morning saying I may wish to consider fixed rate options - I applied for a fixed rate in the first place! This is not the first confusing correspondence I've received from Halifax either. My wife and I both arranged in an HBOS branch to transfer our ICESAVE cash ISA funds into a Halifax FRISA, agreed at 4%, and filled out the forms and provided cheques and the ICESAVE reinstatement certificates.
The cheques cleared last week and we have both now received letters from Halifax. Mine is a "Halifax ISA Saver Transfer in receipt" and the accompanying letter states that details of my new account will be forwarded shortly and that I may wish to consider a fixed rate option instead (!).
My wife's letter is a "Halifax ISA saver confirmation of investment" and all the accompanying letter says is to check that the address etc details are correct.
Since neither mentions the 4% fixed rate does anyone know if that will follow in subsequent letters?
thanks for any feedback
However, I do have online banking set up with Halifax (you don't need a current account for this - I haven't) and logging on today the ISA shows up correctly as a fixed rate with the correct term and rate I had applied for ( a couple of days ago it was showing as an instant access ISA paying a variable rate of 0.15% - wasn't pleased about that! )
Anyway seems as though all is in order now so hopefully yours will be OK too. Maybe the shortly to be forwarded details will confirm all this after all!0 -
Skitskut,
Thanks. I think I will set up the online option so I can keep an eye on progress and check the details are correct!0 -
Well, I've finally got mine fully set up. It's only taken two visits to a branch, 6 phone calls, and 11 letters from the Halifax!Stompa0
