Besides which since the hardware in Macs and PC's is now the same how can that realistically be true?

Erm...Microsoft don't make PC's, they supply the Software to make them work porperly, if the hardware is crap, don't have a go at Microsoft. ;)
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

....Wrong again, if it was crap, why is the most sucessfull and widespread used O/S on the planet?
Oh I can't be a r s e d with another Windows vs Linux debate tonight, I have had too much Heineken and I am off to the sack, I will be back to play tomorrow.

I dont particularly like windoze but the hardware is the same that runs Macs so saying thats crap is counter productive.

I find its down to software preference really. Apple were imho very stupid not to market OSX separately its unlike them to miss an obvious way of making money. They could make a killing.

Because its bundled with 99% of every new PC sold, due to M$'s bully boy tactics.

Is that why Dell, HP, IBM give you a choice of OS Bundle/Pre-Load - Windows or Linux. ;)

we could go at logger heads for this - but when a cooperation (quite rightly) pretty much gives out their os's to vendors (I.E hp or Dell) for nigh on free - to ensure that their product is use.... really doesnt give much hope for people to uptake linux..

There is no real door for other os vendors to get their os's out there...

Don't get me wrong i could run OS on a £600 workstation legally - i would, but I cant. The line of work I do - requires for the moment, that I use osx... and I have to say I am converted... ;)

now yes - but only until recently the common line was - here is windows, use it. Therefore the uptake of other OS's was relatively small.

FF to now - and a user who is used to windows will not touch linux with a barge pole.
