Kettering B&Q didn't have the 150l bags on offer today, the SA said they'd not been discounted for the past few weeks.
Their offer was 3 x 75l for £10.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0 -

I have to agree....
Cheap compo last year, crops could have been better, this year its John Innes all the way...;)To travel at the speed of light, one must first become light.....0 -
I have to agree with both peter_the_piper and tomsoloman. I bought two 150 litre bags of B&Q multipurpose today - but they are going into my raised beds as a top-up of good topsoil and well rotted manure.
Few, if any, of the currently available commercial soilless composts I've seen are much good - certainly not compared with the stuff you could get a decade ago. The paranoia over peat and the relentless downwards pressure on price has meant that even the premium brands now contain great claggy lumps and twigs that I'd defy a triffid seedling to grow past, let alone an antirrhinum!
I remember back in the early 1980s when a bag of Bowers seemed to have a good amount of sand in it, which made for a nice open nature and plenty of drainage - in fact, even Woolworth's compost did, back then - now none of them seem to have.
Time was when John Innes could be too variable to trust. These days, I'm starting to feel that way about multipurpose types and so I am slowly driftitng back to JI - particularly for seed sowing.0 -

I'm sure I saw these at ours last week and I think they were £6.98.0 -

I couldn't find the 150 litre sacks at first and it wasn't until O was on the way out that I saw them and the offer - 2x150 litre sacks for £10.
I went straight back in, got a refund on the 120 litre sack I had bought and purchased the two 150 litre ones instead.
Hope that helps.0 -
hi if you grap a grannieand take her to b and q on a wednesday you get 10% of so 2x150 litres for £9.00 we did that this week ...0

Wickes normally do 4 75L bags for £10... the offer isn't on at the moment... I am hoping the offer will be back soon as I am desperate for more compost and that was the best deal going (good compost too!).
My local garden centre do 3 bags for £10 all year round but am not sure about my local B&Q atm..
Roys have this same offer on at the mo hth0 -
I bought a bag of the 49p Poundstretcher compost yesterday - it seems OK, but has lots of large twigs/small bits of wood in and a few shards of glass! I almost cut myself sprinkling it into my seed trays.
Is this normal? It's the first time I've grown anything from seed - I normally just pour it into the pots so I don't know if I'd notice bits of wood and glass. I know it won't harm the plants, but it might harm me!0
