Solid Wall Insulation

I put it on top of the existing plaster. Obviously, you'd save some space (of the order of a centimetre) if you hacked off the old plaster, but it's a ghastly job and generates a lot of nasty rubbish.
You might have to remove wallpaper if it's not stuck on well enough to take the plasterboard.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -

Hi
I'm in a bit of a pickle! I've had conflicting information as to whether my property (old detached cottage, added onto throughout it's lifetime) has cavity walls throughout or at all!! Condensation is a problem in north facing area of house, and these external walls are also plastered on the hard and freezing to the touch. Have looked into internal insulation, but can't find any information about installers/grants in the Aberdeenshire area.
Can anyone help?0 -

Have finally got a response off the Council. Not good news but thought I'd post it here as maybe useful info for others:
"Liverpool City Council do not have any schemes at the present time for solid wall insulation, however I have contacted the Merseyside Energy Savings Trust Advice Centre for further details.
They have informed me that there is a scheme in Merseyside operated by the insulation company, Miller Patterson who can be contacted on 0800 564 456 and offer a small discount."0 -
Hi, We tried to find out about solid wall insulation and there are no grants in Shropshire (West Midlands). We are desperate to try an insulate our solid wall cottage as we have no mains gas here and our LPG cental heating is a fortune and never seems to go down in price.
We contacted the Energy Saving Trust and they advised battening out the walls but because of were our doors are situated we can't do that.
We were sent a sample of 'Sempertap' which is on a roll and can be pasted to the inside of your external walls. It has a rough finish on the top service and the backing is a foam material and its about 4cms thick. It can then be painted or wall papered. Each roll is about a metre wide and I think there are 12 metres on each roll. Works out about £124.00 per roll so not cheap.
Has any one used this?0
