Digimate DGM 32" LCDTV 'Out of Warranty' [RESOLVED]

Phone the number on my link again and if they argue give them the link to their own web site.0

Called DGM again this morning at 11:30am, finally got through to someone, who sounded like they were 12, who informed me that all the customer services reps are 'in a meeting', and to try a 'different' services hotline. When I asked if there was a standard UK number I could call as I was calling from abroad; after a few seconds hesitation I was asked to 'call back in 30 minutes' ... So the new tactic is don't answer the phones wait for the warranty to run out, and it will all blow over ... Not likely!0

Got a response from my email about your link Zandoni...Good Afternoon
I have looked in to this case and spoken to head office
I have been advised that the web site you need to get your warranty
information is -
http://www.digimate.co.uk/en/warrantyInfo3.asp.
The differences are only the .com and .co.uk at the end all the English
warranties are on the .co.uk web site.
Kind regards
Marc
DGM Customer services
Edit: Oh and guess what ... the website you linked can no longer be found ... http://www.digimate.com.hk/registration/warrantypolicy.htm ... Good job I printed it out!! Would that be destruction of evidence??0 -
Crikey they are a slippery lot. Have a look at moneyclaimonline it doesn't cost much and is probably your only option.0

I would not even bother dealing with DGM, deal with the retailer, they mis-described the goods (for the benefit of Brooker Dave, item was sold with 3yr warranty that formed part of the terms of the contract between the seller and the retailer),
Ask the retailer to sort it out and honour the contract of sale or let them know you will be seeking the cost of repair via the small claims court.0 -

Agree 100%0 -
I started filling out the claims form on moneyclaimonline; when it came to submit I got a technical error and couldn't submit it. As I didn't really now who to chase I put both companies down. I suppose it was lucky it didn't go through.
I'm going to be really thick now; but there's too much helpful information in the thread now...Am I right to do the following?
Call Scan, inform them that the product came in writing with three years warranty; aside from that it's their legal duty as the retailer under the Sale of Goods Act to repair or replace the product up to 6 years after purchase. The product only lasted approx. 2 years; which would indicate it was not of satisfactory quality. If you do not honour the contract of sale I shall be seeking the cost of repair or replacement via the small claims court
I just need to get it clear in my head so I don't waiver and end up caving in ... I've never threaten legal action before, so this is new to me0 -
Studioeng - write (a proper letter not email) to both scan and the CC company giving them 14 days to do what ever you want them to do explaining that the TV came with a 3 year warranty and therefore for it to have gone wrong after 2 years and digimate not honouring the warranty means it is not of satisfactory quality.
See what there response is and then progress it from there.0 -
I've got a couple of letters prepared, but I've not sent anything yet. I received this email from Scan this morning:Hi
With regards to the digimate LCDTV, digimate have advised they will try and resolve this issue for you, we must stress that this is being done as a gesture of goodwill, and they are under no obligation to do this.
We need the serial number off the monitor, this will be passed to digimate direct who will then arrange to have this collected and checked when it is back with them.
Please also provide a detailed description of the fault and the full model number off the unit.
Regards
Scan Computers
Well if it gets a result and the TV fixed... Problem solved.0 -
Got a phone call from Digimate this morning. They're collecting the television on Monday. Result!!
Maybe I'm just pessimistic, but now I'm waiting for the 'it was user damage' spiel!?!0
