I linked to money claim online because Scan are not honouring the 3 year guarantee that they provided with the goods. I would say that if its in the box it should be honoured.

I would phone Scan again and ask to speak to a manager to explain the situation, you could hint at small claim court in the discussion. If that doesn't work give them 10 days notice in writing that you are going to persue your claim via the small claim court.

And then get laughed out of court because a cheepo telly needed repair after 24 months...

Price doesn't come into it, it was supplied with a three year warranty and that is not being honoured.

So I take it to the tip then??

For the record it wasn't 'that' cheap! How long should a 'cheepo' telly last? Was I lucky I got 24 months out of it?

So the 3 year warranty is worth nothing then? Sorry I've already got that response from Scan and DGM, I don't need it again!!

If it's junk then fair enough I'll take it down the tip; but if there's the slightest chance I can get what I paid for then I'd like to try. Thank you.

Okay, I'm trying to write an email to Scan; which I shall send and follow up with a phonecall... So far I have:

I know that there should be something at the end, but I'm now stumped to how to finish the email. Please let me know if what I have got so far is totally not acceptable.

Any ideas of a template email would be greatly appreciated.

You should be finishing up by outlining the next step you expect them to take (repair of the TV)

I'm not saying bin it, but you may end up paying to have it repaired yourself.

Of course if you read these forums you'll learn that all items sold have a free six year warrenty and at any point you can demand a full refund.

    Reality says something else...

Once again studioeng is not claiming on the consumer 6 year ruling, his TV came with a THREE YEAR GUARANTEE, this has to be honoured.

His telly didn't come with a 3 year guarentee, as he's discovered after contacting the people who made it.

I'm sure it's worth having it looked at with a view to getting it mended rather than simply binning it though.

Digimate still come with THREE year warranty.

A lot of these companies only supply a one year warranty when bought from places like Currys (so they can sell you an extended warranty).
