pavlovs-dog - think you've hit the nail on the head. they said previously they don't like everything until they've tried it. dss2 always asks whats for dinner and think they make up their minds before they see it / taste it. if it's something new we try not to say what they're having or keep it vague iykwim. married to the man of my dreams! 9-08-090

I just sweat some chopped onions, mushrooms and crushed garlic in a bit of oil and butter, add a bit of chicken stock and a twist of black pepper and cook it on low for 10 mins until the garlic is a bit milder then stir in some cream. Add some leftover chicken and cook for as long as you want. You can cook this on a very low heat in the oven for a couple of hours to make the chicken fall apart or just do the sauce on the hob to pour over pasta and pre-cooked chicken.
For grown ups add some white wine at to the sweated veg, cook it off for a few mins then add sugar snap peas to the mixture before cooking in the oven for a couple of hours.Just run, run and keep on running!0 -

I don't know if it would work with your two but if I say we're having 'chicken in a white wine sauce/red wine sauce or beef cooked in beer'.........then I have no arguments  ....and she's only 6 :eek:Just run, run and keep on running!0 -
My DD is 11, and she loves:
Roast Dinners
Shepards Pie
Breaded Fish or Fishcakes
Sausage & Mash
Spagbol
Chicken Mush Mush (leftover chicken with campbels soup with either rice like a chicken supreme or in a HM pie)
Creamy Chicken Curry & Rice
Toad In The Hole
Egg & HM Chips
We only have chips once a week at most, and the only veg she really likes are carrots, cabbage and peas-so work with these as mush as possible to save arguments..LOL. She loves roasties and mash but not too struck on new pots or boiled pots
