I look forward to seeing photos of all your gardens.
Lotus-easter, I agree with you that far too much money and effort goes into producing flowers for the Chelsea show, I didn't like most of the gardens this year at Chelsea but I loved the cottage garden, if I could create a wee bit of that I would be really pleased...but the reality for me I'm afraid is I'm not really green fingered and I am pretty useless at planning a garden, I have a new build and have stuck in mini shrubs around the border and as Alan Titchmarsh said on one of his gardening programmes, it looks like wee dumplings with no interest/focal point.0 -
Ok, sun's out and likewise with the camera and.........
High rise bed March
This area was full of bramble, bindweed and upper wall level was unsound
High rise beds July
Wall repointed, raised 18", new fencing, new path on top and 2 x 40' terraced beds with temporary planting, mainly cottage garden annuals but also runners, toms etc. RAS suggested a water butt up here, its on top of the wall behind the garage
Wild garden March
Trouble was we used to attract plenty of frogs and toads but ended up decapitating them when cutting the lawn
Wild garden July
Still kept patch of long grass and log frog pile by pond, kept compost heap and rock pile (toad hall) and pond. Put in 3 new beds, 2 planted with mainly nectar plants, the third temporary planted but now growing in pots for permanent planting: borage, betony, bugle, violets and pulmonaria. The compost heap pumpkin is going for world domination!
New rose beds
Only planted in November so still pretty raw, welsh onions to front
Veg patch
Nearest raised beds dug in Feb, will put another raised bed area to front and chicken coop/run to left
Greenhouse
Cucumber is trying to grow thru vent so will train it along internal ridge! Toms still green0 -
It has taken a long time to do this photo so, for other seasons, I will try again tomorrow.0 -

What a great idea for a thread. I think every one of the gardens shown are fantastic. I'd like to join in too as we have been working hard on creating something out of nothing for the last 15 years.
Time to get the scanner and camera.
