I regularly look at the greenfingered board, especially at the beginning of each month so I can have a sneak at peoples gardens, I think it is usually Penelope Penguin who starts it off, but I can't find the threads for the last few months? Can anyone of you kind soles help me locate them? I find them very useful as they give me plenty of much needed tips on real peoples gardens rather than me feeling useless after watching the Chelsea Flower Show.

    Thank you in anticipation.

Everyone feels useless after watching Chelsea and I must say some of the gardens are so ultra modern, and expensive that a lot of us could not copy them, July is my least favourite month in the garden but I will take a couple of photos and post them tomorrow. In July many plants seem to look weary, especially in this weather, My gardening is weird anyway as I just like growing things from seed but there is no plan. They just have to go where there is room.

FWIW many of the gardens at Chelsea leave me very unimpressed, expensive but minimalist and devoid of soul (and often interest as well). I heard about the colossal sums they spent on creating "perfection" and wondered just how much relevance they have to the average gardener. Still, if Jake's Gran posts her garden snaps I'll post the before and after of my new highrise beds to show gardening on a non-Chelsea budget :)

Apologies, I've not done a thread recently, as my camera has been playing up :o I was planning to join up all the photos for the year to date into one thread, so will do that soon :D I'll see if I can borrow DS's camera to take some pics of my garden, too :T

So, a quick look at chez moi in July...

I hope you can spot the eucalyptus, gladioli and lillies (yet to flower), the geum, nasturtium, alliums (saving seed), bearded iris (well over), sedum, the growing eryngium, dahlia Bishop of Landaff, the roses, ...

    Oh yes, and some mulliens...:)

I look at Chelsea and mostly think this is so silly why are people aspiring to get their garden like this, if you only knew the amount of work that went in to producing one, you wouldn't be bothered about it. For the flowers alone they sow at least three different lots at different times, just so they hope to get one lot flowering at the right time.
For the veg, the lengths they go to to get perfect specimens has to be seen to be believed.
Look at it as a somewhat overblown way to get design ideas, nothing more.
Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.
