Here's my pathetically small garden. Although we are hoping to redesign it this year and put raised veg gardens in, relay patio etc..

  • natty68, even though your garden is small im sure there is plenty you can do in it, and doesnt it look beautiful under snow. this year im attaching lengths of guttering along my fences and growing strawberries in them, you can even make shelving to attach to your fences to grow things on.x
One day I will live in a cabin in the woods

That it does, shame it had to thaw though :( I've never thought of putting guttering along the fence, wonder if DH would go along with this.

I am also using my front garden for planting veg and fruit - I have a rhubarb plant in the front garden which is growing really well, it has come up again this year which I am really pleased about, and two cabbages growing too. Thinking about putting a raspberry and gooseberry bush in there too. Think it might get the neighbours talking but heck who cares!!

Natty, my first garden was about the size of yours. We had to do a very careful design, but we managed a patio, a flower bed, a pond, a rockery a greenhouse and one small raised fruit bed. Mind you, like a lot of people, we had no patio when the washing was out!

    Finally a bit of sunshine!

I planted 500 crocus under some established espalier (sp?) fruit trees last autumn. Despite the attentions of the chickens I am rather pleased with the outcome in what was previously unused space. They will be lovely when they bulk up in the future. There are also lillies underneath and I fill it with annuals for the summer. Not sure how that will work with the chickens this year though.

Depends on the breed. Some, like Buff Orpingtons, are relatively well behaved... Then there's the others!
