Can I join? It's my 2nd year growing, this pic was taken last July, you can see runner beans on the right, tomatos in gro bags half way up on both sides, a pumpkin on the left near the top and cherry tomatos in tubs at the top. On the left of the summer house we have a veg patch which had potatos in it and onions which went wrong. This year will be better I hope although didn't do too badly! Am now jealous of next doors green house as we got rid of ours when we moved in (gave it away for free, ).

Suzie, which way does your little wooden house at the bottom of the garden face?Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

Me too! I'm not putting a pic of mine on... I've got an inferiority complex.
In very simple terms please tell me exactly how to do it and I'll put some of mine on. I tried all day yesterday and still can't get it right. It;s not a big garden but there are some nice pictures. The garden shown at the beginning is very big and I could not handle it now. Don't forget, tell me what to do! I've just got to get it right.0 -

Ok... first you need to sign up to a photo hosting site ( www.photobucket.com is the one i use, but there are loads of other.. and it's free)
then you need to follow the instructions to upload photos from your computer.
once they've uploaded, you right-click on the photo on the photobucket screen, and 'copy' the

Hubby says the summer house faces south as we have a north facing garden....in the summer we get sun all over though, now we get sun half way then shade down to the house.0 -
:hello: PP - thanks for this. I do love having a nose at other peoples gardens!
It doesn't matter about size if it is used well - which mine isn't at the moment. My stone walls are granite - and there is one that runs up the middle of the garden. It is on a hillside and doesn't drain very well. The chickens and dogs destroy everything except the azaleas - of which we have c50, mostly bright pink. Nice.
The snow is mostly covering rubble sacks atm. Slowly melting so I will do some more next week. Plenty of things flowering - honeysuckle, box, viburnum, hebe, jasmine, snowdrops to name a few - and lots of promise of things to come. We have been here for two years now and it is very much a work in progress.
:hello: JakesGran -am I right in thinking you are also on allotments4all? Upload your picture to photobucket (I set mine to size medium). Once it has uploaded double click on the picture you want, then select and copy the IMG code. You then paste the img code into the box on here that you type into. It will show on your screen as (IMG)photobucket etc(IMG) but becomes a picture once you have posted it. You say you have a veg patch on the left of the SH and it didn't do very well? I can't see it in the photo, but if its between the fence and the SH, I'm not surprised it didn't do very well, the plants probably didn't get much light.
If I was you, this is what I would do.
I would grow my tomatoes in grow bags against the SH, either side of the door.
I would use the SH as an early greenhouse, raise a shelf type thing up to one or both windows and sow frost tender veg in there.
I would create two raised beds, right in front of the SH, with a path running through the centre of the two, so you can get to the SH.
The right hand bed going up the fence, I would, plant a row of raspberries and use it for high growing veg, like beans. The raspberries at the top of the garden.
The left hand bed, isn't going to get anywhere near as much sunshine as the right, I would put some hybrid berries in there. Tayberries and loganberries will both do well there, as will other hybrids, or indeed a blackberry, although I personally think its a shame to grow berries in your garden you can pick in the wild.
You can also research veg that likes to be shaded, lettuce for example prefers cool conditions.
I wouldn't grow potatoes unless I had brought 3/4's of your garden in to production, as the space needed wouldn't be worth it.
I hope that's given you some ideas.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0 -

The idea is, you post how it is now - then next month you can post again, and we can all see how everyone's gardens grow through the year
