Not necessarily. What do you plan to study? Undergraduate study for non-ELQ students is still capped at £3,225 for 2009/10. For Postgraduate study, the best way of checking is to look at the website for the university you wish to study at for the 2008/09 and 2009/10 fees to see if there is any difference.

yep, except the OU doesn't work like that. I want to know whether OU fees in general are going to go up in 2010 compared to this year as a result of the withdrawl of government funding for ELQ students, or whether they are going to add another tier, ie having: UK, UK ELQ, Non UK etc.
I am doing postgrad which is expensive anyway, so hopefully it won't change too much.

They should stop asking for reviews and stop doing it case by case and come up with a policy. The point is that it is not effective or fair to do it case by case due to the costs and also the fact that judgements will vary.

What has been said here is that a lot of universities are not doing anything really but making the students worry.

It is about time someone showed some leadership.

Ah, I see. Sorry, I wasn't aware it was an OU course you were looking at. And I didn't know if you were looking at UG or PG which is why I asked the question.

For anyone looking to commence studying in 2009/10:
It's so variable that the only way to make any kind of judgement is to contact institutions directly, and to do so from the point of view of a student who is wishing to study, since you will probably need to provide a lot of information for the admissions people to make an appropriate assessment. I appreciate that this will not please some people, but it really is the most sensible approach if you are genuinely considering studying in 2009/10.

What happens if the admissions people have no idea or make a wrong judgement?

    What is the suitation now?

Even if I was thinking the cost would put me off. My friend has decided not to do it.

The University does not levy a different or increased fee for students with an equivalent or lower qualification than the programme they wish to study, and has no plans at present to do so, even though our funding from the Higher Education Funding Council for England does not cover students studying for equivalent or lower qualifications.

For information on tuition fee levels please see our website: www.soton.ac.uk<http://www.soton.ac.uk/>.

i know this thread is old but just thought i'd say that someone i know was not given any information on ELQ fees, enrolled on the course and now, as they go into their third year, is being told to stump up 10k or leave immediately.

its terrible. took the university two years to realise. and the person has been honest all the way through. the previous qualification is on all the enrolment documents.
