As all things politics is the art of compromise. I frankly despise several leading members of the Labour Party, went on the Iraq War march, have had blazing rows with other party members on a variety of topics and fundamentally disagree with the government on a swathe of issues.
And yet I am Labour. I have friends who are Tories who have the same thing with their party. In fact the Tory party has for the last 20 years been a party tent for loathing, mutiny and back-stabbing. The LibDems have a schizm over whether to be economic Liberals or not.
We're all tribal, instinctively drawn to our chosen party. And like all families we row and fight. Why is this concept so hard for some of you to understand?0 -
Clown is 100% complicit in the catastrophe sweeping England.
His policy was to allow unfettered house price inflation in the SE, so people felt 'wealthy'.
While they weren't caring, Clown syphoned off £500,000,000,000 in middle-class wealth to redistribute to 'his people' in Scotland, Wales, the NE and NW, the unreformed public sector, the idle and useless.
FACT - Under Labour, 600,000 numpties added to the public sector, 60% of 'workers' in the NE are on the public payroll
FACT - Under Labour, 9,000,000 are idle, but they are hidden on disability benefit etc. costing an arm and leg in benefits of all sorts
FACT - Under Labour, it makes economic sense for every girl to get pregnant at 14, get the benefits, get the council house, get the ciggies, forget ever working.
And yet, even with taxation spiralling, Clown was borrowing and borrowing during the best economic period for Britain since before the war.
Clown sold the family silver. Now he's betting the country on a last throw of the dice, printing money left right and centre.
Clown is quite happy with his 'scorched earth' policy; he'll get a nice non-job in Europe with a mega pension. He'll be quite happy to leave 2,000,000 added to the dole and stagflation for the Tories to sort out over a decade while Labour witters on about 'the poor'. Why? Because he burns with the class-hatred and politics of sheer spite of the true socialist.
My one wish is a live long enough to spit on Clown's grave.0 -
It's not only the people who bought into the have it now culture who are suffering, my husband, along with hundreds of other people in this country, is being made redundant through no fault of theirs ... thanks to the policies pursued by this Government.
I'm not really a Tory supporter ...but every time they are in power - people like us, hard workers, no debt - we always seem to be better off
Labour always break the economy - every time
I'm sorry to hear about your husband and I hope he gets another job soon. The Labour party are doing everything they can to save jobs. The Tories will not do this.
I think you are mistaken that you will be better off under a Tory government. If the NHS is underfunded, how will that effect you? Will you be able to afford BUPA? If there are many unemployed will you feel safe in your home or on the streets?
If Labour always break the economy everytime - how do you explain the performance of Margaret Thatcher & John Major? If you keep doing what you've always done - you will keep getting what you've always got.0 -
I was saying to a friend the other day ...do you think anyone will vote for Labour in the next election? Reading the posts on this forum has answered my question ...and I despair ...some people are gluttons for punishment..aren't they?
Labour aren't working anymore ...sure I've heard that one before!0 -

I agree with you.
However, I think some people remain tribally affiliated when the party no longer reflects their beliefs..whether tis the party or the individual who has a change in direction, and rather than facing that a previously despised tribe might be more representative of their feelings persist that their chosen tribe is THE tribe for them, come what may.0 -
Your party made a deal with the devil! For power you gave up all ideals and even basic morality. How is that compromise?Rochdale_Pioneers wrote: »As all things politics is the art of compromise. Well done, after 11 years you've created enemies out of the arabs, destroyed the economy, encouraged a 10 year hpi bubble, created vast infrastructure of state handouts. Well done.0 -

ES - I'm sure voters will get the Government they want. I didn't say that Labour will win the next election.
Just out of interest - what do you think the Tories will do that is going to make your life better? If you keep doing what you've always done - you will keep getting what you've always got.0 -

You're talking as if life was perfect before TB worn the election in 1997. Are you in your 20's?If you keep doing what you've always done - you will keep getting what you've always got.0 -
Why not vote conservative if they have a pledge in their manifesto to halt the 3rd runway?I will vote Labour but Heathrow's Third Runway makes me boil:mad:
You have one chance to make a difference, putting your mark for labour will make the quality of life for those under the expanded flightpaths much worse and the terrible extra pollution isn't gonna help any polar bears0 -

I don't think you read my post ...I said that we HAVE IN THE PAST always personally been better off under a Tory Government ..and BTW the Government is doing NOTHING for my husband ..as usual all talk no action.
The NHS when I have used it is worse than it used to be ...my doc used to make home visits 10 years ago ...not any more ...you have to know about a week in advance that you are going to be sick to get an appointment ...where has all the money gone ...oh yes..on managers and statistic gatherers ..whilst people die of hospital infections ....you call this an improvement? ....open your eyes and don't fall for the spin!
And there will be MANY unemployed under Labour ..and I don't feel safe with them in power0
