I opted for the 2.02% fixed rate bonus payable for 6 months on my Kaupthing-to-Ing account. Since the final combined rate of 3.03% is not bad in the current market I'm thinking of putting more of my savings into this account. Can I do this and still get the bonus rate on on all of my savings?

With the KE account you had to have monthly interest.

With the ING account you can add more in and still be getting the bonus rate on the whole balance - for the next 6 months anyway.
  • Hi,
I have had an account transferred to Ing Direct, wondered if anyone could help,Ing Direct promised they would compensate customers for loss of interest during long delays when money being withdrawn was not reaching linked accounts ,I was on holiday in December, did all customers receive compensation for loss of interest,I asked Ing Direct and they said they could not look at my account,as it was close to period of transfer?

I had transfered all my money out of KE some time ago leaving a zero balance.
However ING have transfered the accont. I logged on this weekend to fine I now have 8p in the account! Are ING just transfering every KE account regardless?
I am also tempted by the bonus rate, given ING's history can anyone see a problem with this offer?

You should check the conditions of the bonus offer. They have already cut the underlying variable rate by 0.5% since the letter went out, I think. When you log in, it is still talking about the higher cominbed rate as being the offer, but I couldn't work out whether the total was a guarantee for 6 months or just the bonus. If the latter they should be updating the website to make it clear.
  • I too was an existing ING customer and opted for the 6 month bonus rate on my ex-KE account. I expected to get some confirmation and see the bonus mentioned on the account 'view', like it is for the WebSaver (if anyone else had one of these you'll know what I'm on about ...)

I hope the bonus is on what ever I put in that account but I can't see it stated explicitly anywhere. Anyone got a definitive answer from ING?

Me too - I think I have opted for 6 month bonus but no confirmation received and no mention of interest rate bonus on account information.

To choose option 1 (with the the promotional bonus), there's a big button (that could be easy confused for a flash-ad) that you need to click on. This leads to another two buttons (accept and don't accept). After you press 'accept', there's a page that comes up confirming that you have accepted option 1 and saying that you should wait for a few days while the rate is applied. Maybe they'll be some indication of your rate after it all flows-through?!
  • ING somehow changed my address details during the transfer, the result of which is that my welcome pack/PIN were sent elsewhere and now I have to re-prove who I am before I can get to my money. :T
  • I had to get a replacement PIN too - when I phoned up, they admitted they'd had problems with the first batch.

My transfer has NOT gone smoothly.

Previous to the transfer I had one saver account and a second fixed rate account with two separate amounts in it due to mature on two different dates.

After the transfer, I still had one saver account and one fixed rate account, but one of the two amounts in the fixed rate account has been transferred to the saver account.

I have not lost any capital, but am losing interest on one of the amounts that was in the fixed rate account, which ING has said they would honour.

I was promised a 48hr response to my query when I phoned ING on 17th February. After chasing it up yesterday (25th February), the agent did say that there were several problems with the transfer which accounted for the zilch response, but promised a (further) response within five working days.

    I'm not holding my breath...............
