Having checked the tax status on my wife's ING (ex Kaupthing) accounts, it turns out that they had carried across the gross interest state of the 'normal' account BUT they had managed to lose it on the fixed rate account.

Got it corrected by phoning up - only a short wait today.

So if you are wanting gross interest I would suggest you check to see that it has carried across correctly.

...they are showing the interest as net and not gross as per KE.....and also seem to have knocked a few quid off....
  • My chap and I both received our ING welcome packs following the transfer of funds from Kaupthing Edge. The PIN letters duly arrived, but the scratch-off covering of the PINs had to be scratched off so hard they were obliterated. We went through the same rigmarole of phoning customer service, being transferred to security, all at our expense. ING people agreed there had been myriad problems with the "filming" of the PINs. We got our replacement PINs and checked balances online. There's just a lump sum, obviously a bit more than we deposited, which is the interest. But we never have received any statement from K Edge, and now we can't access the original accounts. How do we check all is in order?

I closed my account as I wont be able to get to my login details for a few weeks.

If they had simply kept the account details the same...

Delray Beach-glad you posted about the PIN paperwork - I thought it was just me when the last 3 figures were illegible.I've now got my PIN and all appears well-at least the money is showing where it should be!
  • I had similar problems with the PIN. Luckily the couple of digits that had disintegrated weren't required! The KE amount transferred had interest added up to 6th Feb and everything seems in order.

They ask you for different numbers each time - so it would be a good idea to get this sorted!

My PIN was a temporary one - I used it to log on and then had to change the PIN to one I would remember.

It was just the temporary PIN which had missing digits. I've now changed it to one I've dreamt up myself!
  • Can anyone remember whether KE gave the choice of monthly or annual interest. Stupidly, I recently threw away the statements I printed off just after KE went belly up, along with my IceSave statements..... Now have no way of knowing whether the value that ING transferred has included owed interest e.g. if I had an annual interest option have they calculated this and added to the account.

    Damn.
