Happyroly wrote:Dave, you were asking about non-sticky sun lotion - you really cannot beat P60, may cost a little more than some others but you only need to apply it once a day. Put it on in a morning on dry skin then you must wait for the product to dry thoroughly before going out into the sun. Advice I heard was put it on before having breakfast and then you can be sure it is ok.
What happens if you sweat though? Does it mark fabrics?
Also, does it block your pores at all cos that can give me prickly heat which can be so uncomfortable.
Thanks

sunlinesam wrote:Hi there,
Bit new to posting, but have been reading for a long time before I registered.
Anyway, I think this is the correct place to post this as it isnt a 'real' freebie but is a free item.
I went in my local Boots today and was buying some no7 products and saw a basket on the floor behind the tills of travel make up brushes. Good quality bristles and wooden handled ones.
I asked the assistant if they were going to be for sale or for a future promotion.
She replied they were actually a free gift with Max Factor products. I said Oh i wanted some travel brushes so would look at the Max Factor stand.
She then replied, "that offer has expired but if youre buying those no 7 items I will pop a free set in with them for you"...She then decided one set wasnt enough and gave me two sets!
So I came away with some suncare BOGOF offers, and another thing to make up the £15 needed to get my free promotional gift. A Lindor Chocs voucher which I immediately swapped for the 99p chocs, the £5 make up voucher, will use next week and 2 really fab quality Max Factor make up brush sets. Saved me over £18 for the ONE set I was going to buy myself!
So if youre next in and by the no7 or Max Factor stand its worth a look to see if they have any sets left and innocently (It was genuine on my part lol) asking if they are for sale or a future free gift...You never know you may get some free too!
Hope thats helpful to someone,
Sam
Hi Sam
Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep an eye out when I'm next in Boots.

Sam
Oh and PS all,
My local Boots machines havent been working for ages either and they have run out fo Lindor chocs, I got the last box apparantly. Though the assistant did say they were getting more in Tomorrow...So worth rechecking your branch if youre passing incase they too have had more stocks in.

Perhaps it's being lied to that makes Sales Assistants crabby!?!!
Please post any Boots loopholes you're aware of so we can all take full Advantage.

maxinecook wrote:Picked up some bodyform but SA wouldn't let me use voucher, said it had to be off next purchase,so I said then I want them put through as seperate transactions she refused as it was not a different purchase
What you then do with your property is your business of course. If ten seconds you decide to buy some more Bodyform using your voucher from your earlier purchase, I don't see the problem. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. bham-dave wrote:Hi Maxine - IIRC, the second the SA accepts your money for the first item, a binding sale contract has been made and it's legally your property - whether you've left the shop or not. (Any lawyers reading to confirm?)

You are right Dave, I'm a law student in Dundee, goods on display on the shelf are classified as an invitation to treat, but to make a valid contract there has to be two or more parties intending to be legally bound in some form of legal transaction usually involving goods, or services but not always in exchange for cash.
An offer has to be made to one or more parties (customer to sales assistant for example) or to the world at large through an advertisment followed by an unconditional acceptance from the person(s) to whom the offer is addressed.
In this case the offer was made to the sales assistant to buy the goods at the checkout, who accepted when she took payment without adding any further terms or conditions (unconditional acceptance as opposed to counter offer) making a valid and binding contract thus the goods are now the customers to do with as they please.
In other words you dont need to leave the shop to rip off the voucher to use as the goods are already yours as a valid contract has been made. Sales assistant was just being pedantic / stubborn or shall we stay stupid / ignorant of the law?
If she, the sales assistant wanted to be picky, its a different transaction to which you have the receipt for the original to prove a point, so if it does say "to be used on next purchase" you are indeed doing just this.
If you use the voucher before purchase, by this i mean rip it off the product at the checkout, this can be deemed as theft as you have not made the original purchase / formed a legally binding contract to be the legal owner of the voucher to be able to use it.
Although quiet, and this is my first post in this thread, i love reading it (got some ei had wash the other day, but never went over board 108 seemed a bit much even with 3 sons).
Thanks to all who post in here and i hope my tuppence worth although not a bargain to post helps.

My Sister put her card in the Advantage Machine Yesterday and doesn't go into a Boots with an Advantage Machine that often and she hardly got any offers at all so looks like the EI ones, Hair Science etc have stopped.
She was gutted as wanted to get alot of points0 -

Hi Sunlinesam, one of the main symptoms of being a Boots Tart is that you cannot pass a branch without its magnetic force dragging you in!:eek:

I always tell them that a SA in another Boots told me to do it that way, ever since the lovely no 7 SA in Cribbs told me how to get a couple of bargains ages ago, and then when I tried in our local store to do the same the SA was a bit peculiar, so I told her it had been recommended by the woman in Bristol, she put it through then quite happily :rolleyes:GC Oct £387.69/£400, GC Nov £312.58/£400, GC Dec £111.87/£4000
