Confused by a lot of this.
Just got a digi camera - kodak easyshare cx7300.
Handbook recommends certain batteries and warns against others.
Are you folks saying that any battery is ok but some are better therefore go on price?
mmh?
Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks.0 -
What types does it say are ok?
We have a K6300 and it's fine on these.0 -
recommended:
crv3 lithium
aa (2) lithium
Ni-MH rechatgeable
aa (2) Ni-MH rechargeable
aa (2) non-rechargeable0 -
not heard that...thought memory effect on nicad batteries was common...though perhaps bad terminology as the term "memory effect" isnt very scientific...voltage depression caused by overcharging..is perhaps more appropriate.
in fact there are some scientists who believe that nimh batteries also suffer from meory effect/voltage depression caused by overcharging but to a very small degree.
I don't think they're the same thing. NiMH batteries are less tolerant of overcharging than NiCads; a decent charger (like, as far as I can tell, the one from Lidl) detects the start of the voltage drop and stops the charge right there.
The memory effect, where the battery 'remembers' where it was charged from and thus loses capacity, only happens to Sintered Plate NiCads (i.e. not standard consumer cells), and even then, only when they're repeatedly discharged to exactly the same point and then recharged.
The memory effect myth is harmful in that people become convinced that they need to discharge their batteries before recharging them. In fact, that's shortening the battery's lifespan because it's subjected to needless charging and discharging.

I'd explain it like this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_effect ;D0 -
