Same charger and 8 batteries available on eBay for £10.50 including postage. Have bought 2 in the past week - take about 8 hours to charge 2000mAH NiMh batteries. Very happy with them. Checked out 7 day shop, then checked eBay - usually bargains to be had there!
I have no connection to the seller (bstbatteries), just a happy buyer. The auction description was "FAMEART PC10 CHARGER + 8 AA 2000MAH WITH BATTERY CASE" and they may have more on eBay now - haven't checked.
Take a look yourself if you're in the market for a charger and batteries.0 -

Hi
There was a long thread about batteries about two months ago which included some good general advice on rechargeables. Once I've posted this I'll have a trawl through and see if I can find it.
The concensus seemed to be that NiMh are best because they don't develop a memory.
I ended up buying a brand called BST which were recommened by two retailers who both told me that BST make batteries and chargers for a number of companies including Vanson.
So far they work fine.
The guy I bought mine from was on ebay, his email address is JM2TAXI@AOL.COM - he offered good service and a good price
Hope this helps

The memory effect is basically a myth. You'd have to try very hard indeed to make a NiCad battery develop it. NiMH batteries are best just bacause they have a much higher capacity than NiCads.
Anyway, another vote here for the Lidl charger, I got one last week, and used it to charge up my torch batteries last night, very fast charge. There were plenty left in my local store when I picked mine up, YMMV though obviously.

not heard that...thought memory effect on nicad batteries was common...though perhaps bad terminology as the term "memory effect" isnt very scientific...voltage depression caused by overcharging..is perhaps more appropriate.
in fact there are some scientists who believe that nimh batteries also suffer from meory effect/voltage depression caused by overcharging but to a very small degree.Stevie Coppell's record breaking blue and white royal army - championship winners 2005-60 -
I bought the "Express" charger from Jessops, good value for a tenner but hardly express, 12-16 hours for 2000 mah batteries!!
Actually 18 hours for 2 x AA according to the Uniross website! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
