MDS is a good place to try.
If you want normal AA size batteries of the 2300mAh which is the highest capacity available, go to the link below and click on the product with the flashing special offer £8.95 for 4.

Lots of rechargeable battery types on there.

Maplin (is store and online) have a special offer at the moment.

Visit their webpage http://www.maplin.co.uk and search for product code L50AL, then click on the picture.

There's a bit of a mix up between the display and the description, one says 2300mAh, the other 2000mAh.

However, for a pack of 12 of these batteries, the current cost is £14.99 - originally £24.99.
  • Here's my Money Saving tip on batteries.

Buy Duracell or other alkali batteries as cheaply as possible, and re-charge them at least half a dozen times for re-use. The set of 4 in my digital camera must have been re-used at least 10 times so far and they are still going strong.

This obviously goes against warnings on the packet but they would say that, wouldn't they? The worst I've had is a little bit of seepage from Panasonic batteries, then I throw them away. No explosions, over-heating or anything. But I wouldn't leave them on charge overnight, unattended on the carpet, just in case.

I use a Rayovac battery charger designed for their rechargeable alkali batteries. Even they warn against Duracell!

Alkali are best because they give full voltage, e.g. 1.5v or 9v rather than typically 1.2v and 8.4v respectively with 'proper' rechargeable batteries.

    Regards
    George

I use the battery manager ultra recharger bought it in maplins about 4 years ago(it was about £20 but easily paid for itself in 3 months). Its just for recharging ordinary batteries.Havent seen one for sale for ages.
You can recharge ordinary batteries about 2 -5 times depending on quality of battery and how depleted they are.You cant charge the completely empty ones.Ive never tried recharging them with an ordinary recharger though.
