Get China and the USA to take steps to reduce their emissions and there might be some hope for the future. What this country produces is miniscule(sp) compared to them, so let's get things into perspective folks!

    Here Here...

I watched a program on Sky (Other cable & satalite providers are available) the other week about a guy in America who, if I can remember right, was basically creating Hydrogen from water using Solar Panels and then using the Hydrogen as fuel. Yeah OK it was bl**dy expensive but if this one guy could do it on his own at his own expense, why are big companies not looking into it.. (Or maybe they are but it's not to their Interest to bring it to peoples attention.. Shell,, BP et al..)

I mean Hydrogen & Oxygen... Basic Components of Rocket Fuel and 70odd % of the earth is made up of it.... And we say mankind is technologically advanced ?? I think Not!!
  • Cant speak for NI, but Sammy has been a laughing stock for years
  • Still doesn't change the fact that we need to be doing morethan turning of the Standby light to save the world. (Which is essentially what he is saying).

I'm Not condoning his decision but we really do need to be looking at the bigger polluters... power stations.. Industry... Cars and other transport..

I totally agree that yes we do need to look at the big polluters that cause the biggest damage to the planet and the large things that use up a massive amount of energy, but the simple fact is that if one person does make a small difference by, for example, turning off standby lights, and then another person does the same and then more people do it, and eventually everyone does it then a lot of energy will have been saved.

Yes the big things need to be looked at by governments and see what countries as a whole can do to limit the emission of greenhouse gases, but to bury your head in the sand and take no responsibility for your own actions is ridiculous. If each individual did more for the environment then we would not be damaging the planet as much as we are.

Sometimes one person has to make a stand and eventually people will agree with them. If one person did not fight for change then our country and many others would still be a much bigger laughing stock

Having read the papers and watched the tv and read internet articles(SAMMY WILSON)has made this part of the world a laughing stock.Or should i now say this backwater.

Northern Ireland has always been a backwater; brought about by thirty odd years of violence which appears to have achieved little other than an horrendous waste of human life and public resources. The aforementioned politician, sadly, is a leftover of the 'Troubles' era.

A friend once remarked on the way back from a holiday 'be sure to set your watch back 10 years when you arrive home'. Has a certain resonance.

Unfortunately NI doesn't really do itself much favours - who puts plonkers like Sammy Wilson into positions of responsibility? We do by voting for them. Only in Northern Ireland can a politician get away with publicly making homophobic references and nothing be done about it, not only is that from a politician but from the First ministers wife. Sanny Wilson seems absolutely determined to make a complete laughing stock out of himself. But come next election day they will all be guaranteed to keep their seats in the assembly.

  • Not Just Sammy Wilson... Anybody hear the interview on Radio Ulster this morning with Mervyn Storey.. OH MY GOD or should I say DARWIN!!.

I'm honestly ashamed to be from Northern Ireland...

CAN ALL POLITICIANS PLEASE STOP GETTING INVOLVED WITH ISSUES THAT THEY KNOW ABSOLUTLY NOTHING ABOUT... IF YOU'VE NOTHING GOOD TO SAY.. KEEP QUIET..

I'm not saying people can't have their views but it's how they protray them on Radio or TV that makes them sound like complete idiots.. Don't push your beliefs on other people... If the Ulster Museum want to put on a display about Darwin.. so be it.. but don't get all Holy Joe and insinuate God created man from the Dirt (LITTERALLY).
I'm not saying I don't believe in God/Some Superior Thing. (Whatever you want to call it.. but I really think a lot of these Bible Bashers are taking the word of the Bible Too Literally... I would read it to mean Man was created from the Earth.. Over Millions of years.. Not In a day!!

(Sorry Don't mean to offend anyone.. just my view.. And at least I didn't go on TV or radio to make an !!! of myself)
  •  I see the Stormont's environment committee has now gone on the attack... shock!!!!!
