Anyone got an updated 0800 or national phone number for Vanquis?
The old one I used to use has been switched off.

I've used them to get a bit of credit history, paid off on time etc. I now have a £750 credit limit and I think it may be affecting my ability to get a card with a better interest rate (eventually would like to work my way up to the 0% or cashback cards).

So I want to cancel this one - but there's no way I'm calling an 0845 on my mobile phone.

Just out of interest but was it 4th month you got an increase and if so from what to what?

A limit that small won't be negatively affecting your ability to get a card elsewhere unless you draw your salary in pesos.

What is your balance? Note that if your cumulative balances add upto over 50% of your cumulative limits your credit worthiness can be negatively affected.

Ideally you should keep your credit balances to under 25% of your credit limits to ensure a good credit score although under 50% is sufficient usually :o

I can't remember the month in which I got an increase - sorry.
I believe it was later than that though.

Was from £250 to £750. I never had a balance of more than about £150.

Just got offered a tesco credit card, limit £3,500. Not sure if they'll change their mind, but for now it looks like Vanquis did the job. I'll report back when I know for definite.

  • Hi everyone!
I'm new to all this. I applied online for a vanquis card on 29th January and received a call on the same day trying to sell me PPI etc which I said no to and after setting up a dd was accepted and was told the welcome pack will be with me in 14 days followed by another 7 for pin arrival.
Has anybody received much sooner? Does it depend on card design also as I went for the St George design.

    Many thanks guys

    Hi

I received my card in 6 working days (Pin in 5) and I chose the plum colour.
  • Hi. I've had a Vanquis card for around 20 months. I was refused for main stream cards, even capital one didn't want me. Vanquis said yes and the initial limit was £1000. After 12 months it was at £2500 limit. I used it for work so spend was sometimes large but paid off at the end of the month. If I did have a rolling balance I paid well over the minimum.

November last year I applied for a barcleycard platinum, 0%, and was accepted. A Vanquis card does work to build credit worthiness if you are sensible.

I will now close the Vanquis account, they have been a good experience for me!

    Hi Pip2012

Thank you kindly for your reply beginning to think I shouldn't have chosen a fancy card or it may be that I'm just being impatient without the working days it is now 6 days but 4 if you exclude weekend.
If you don't mind me asking pip2012 did your card come through in working days or normal.

    Thanks
