I think if you think your limit is going to increase every four months you're going to be disappointed to be honest!

You'll find that's more the exception than the rule.

So how do I manage it correctly. Obviously I will be paying in full. Do I use it once a week and only for larger purchases. Do I do what I am doing now. Using it for everything, no matter how small the cost. I've used the card for items just over a quid. Vanquis make money from the retailer everytime it's used. So they are not losing. I'm tempted now just to pay it off on Tuesday in full and cut it in half. At least I will get the green 0000000. On their site it says make the most of your available credit and pay ontime to be considered for a increase. I'm pleased with the card and grateful, I'll be even more pleased if I can get it upto at least £500.00
If you think I won't get a increase in four months ??, then I don't see the point in me using a card.

You have to remember increases don't only happen because of good money management on 1 card, lenders get monthly feedback from all CRA's which tell them how your managing other accounts and if you are not then an increase would be unlikely.

Thanks. My BR was discharged in early 2008. My basic bank account shows nearly 3 years of 0000000000 and my loan that I am paying to the provi is always paid. Only ever missed one payment in a year. I know barclays still showed a outstanding balance when I last saw my CR, which was a couple of months after BR. Not looked at it since, I don't want to pay £14.99 to see it. It used to be about £6. No other credit, just my loan and my basic account with loads of 00000000000 Don't know if provi report to the CR, but if they do, just one payment missed in a year.

    Star-Fire gives good advice shock!!!

ASL, all Credit Card Companies are laws unto themselves. If they want to increase you, they will. Some people on this thread have waited for a year, some I think even longer for example.

As they started me on £500 with 34.9% apr I don't hold out much hope for an increase in the forseeable future!
However, I clear my balance every month and never use more than £100 of it. So hopefully in a year when my last default drops off, I'll be able to move away from it no matter what the limit is :)

I like to get straight to the point..

I got my card in July '10 with a £250 credit limit, and it was increased to £1000 in March '11 - this was with me spending up to £245 of my credit limit (with the smallest transaction being 19p I think).
However, when the pin problems are sorted with my new first direct card I will be using that as it is a lot lower APR and has an £1800 credit limit.

You need to do the post bankruptcy clean up:

    https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/677875

I had an absolute nightmare with this, all my defaults showed outstanding and it took a few months plus repeated letters to all of the CRAs and all of my creditors in the end threatening legal action for defamation before they corrected the data.

You have to be fastidious and steadfast in your approach to them, follow the guide on that thread and don't skimp on anything otherwise the exercise will be pointless.

Now, however, all of the old defaults show the correct dates and are all marked satisfied.

A few of them, including my biggest creditor with who I had a #27,000 default, actually removed the defaults altogether from my credit file - I have none recorded on Equifax and only five on Experian out of a possible thirteen :D

    Good luck!

    Hi izools
    Thanks for your reply.

one shows updated at 05/01/2009 balance £20.****(20k plus) default date 10/10/2008. This and numerous others were in my BR, Which I have just checked was from Oct 2008 to Oct 2009 Others show satisfied. I have 28 green oooooo with my bank, which I opened the day after BR, but they only allow me a basic account with a visa debit card and won't do any upgrades at all, I was open and honest when I opened my vanquis. And I hope that they wont hold old stuff against me when deciding on limit upgrades. My bank when I speak to them keep saying the CR keep saying I have bad S**** against me.

barclays are the biggest culprit and I'll pop into a branch on Tuesday and hopefully try and sort this mess out. I don't owe them a penny anymore.

Since BR I run my new bank account perfectly. also I pay my provi , only ever missed one payment. They are not reporting to equifax though.
