  • My dog died last year, but I'm not ashamed to admit he was brighter than me. And better looking. :)

I don't remember saying your dog had been out of control.

For someone who claims to be so intelligent your posts really don't do you any favours.

    Enjoy your poo. :)

never made the claim of intelligence, merely of being brighter than a dog.

if you feel you must try to criticise me then you could at the very least be correct with what you say.

sorry about your dog, losing one is never much fun.

but, maybe getting another would enhance your brightness, sorry but i had too lol

    enough now :T

Any dog is a wolf at heart. We have had dogs at home since I was a child (30 odd years) and we have had two incidents of biting, my brother was bitten on the foot, teasing one of our dogs, and my sister was bitten through the hand by another dog that had not shown any aggression but was overheated on a summer's day and just snapped.

I personally would never trust ANY dog, no matter how cute, small, or well behaved with any person not able to control it if it went out of control. (ie a child or elderly or sick person) We have three dogs now, a pack, but thankfully they are very aware of their place in the human pack, and are also of a size (small to medium) where, if the worst came to the worst, we could control them without the risk of fatal injury to an adult.
If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

Thanks. He had a good innings. :A

I agree with this, I hate it when a dog attack appears on the news. Obviously its terrible to hear about the poor baby, and its a tragic thing to happen. But I hate how everyone starts on ALL dogs of the same breed (in this instance Jack Russels and Staffies).

One of my friends has a Staffy called Jack and I love him to bits, as do her entire family including her young cousins. Hes lovable, and playful and just a great (very well trained) dog. It breaks her heart though when she takes him out on walks (always on lead unless in deserted area) and she gets abuse thrown at her for having 'a killing machine'. Ive been out with him in the street and once had a mum maker her daughter cross the road (and it was quite abusy one!) while telling the daughter 'quick lets get away from the nasty dog, hell try to bite you'. Seriously what is this teaching kids?!

  • I'm not having a pop here but this sort of attitude gives all dog owners a bad name.

All dogs have the potential to be dangerous. You or me don't get to decided which are and which aren't.

I'm not trying to cause a row here as I'm a massive dog lover and my parents were probably the most blind to it as anyone but you have to understand that dogs can flip like any other animal, humans included, for no apparent reason.

I don't agree with what the old biddy's said but having caution with any dog, especially those you don't know is only a sensible thing.

Anyway enough of my sensible head, it's starting to hurt. :)

I agree with you SS - any animal has the potential to cause harm and could and can turn for any reason at all. Don't get me wrong I adore my dog Bruno but I would never leave my 5 year old son alone with him unattended.

Sorry gang but I don't think we need any more threads degenerating into arguing - there is a thread (or was) over on the arms about the sad incident in Wales. Much as I sympathise with Sammy then I think there is little money saving in this topic :)
And as for letting a mastiff walk around off lead no matter how soppy... It's a dog - not a machine. The reason for the leash is the "what if" incidents... if in the field where dogs normally run off leash fine, if by roads, where there are pedestrians etc then not fine at all...
