There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"0

Are there any savoury impossible pie recipes without cheese in? Dear heart is intolerant to cheese and completely addicted to the sweet.

hi all, i thought i would have a go and make impossible pie ,
my question is what is 1 cup = to in ounces
thx
Impossible Pie
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup plain flour
1/4 teaspoon baking powder pinch of salt
2 tablespoons melted butter 2 eggs
1 cup milk 1 cup coconut
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Mix sugar with flour, baking powder & salt. Add melted butter. Add 2 well beaten eggs and milk. Mix in coconut & vanilla. Pour into greased pie plate and cook in moderate oven for 30 - 35 mins.
NB: The reason it's called Impossible Pie is that when it's cooking it makes it's own pastry layer, it's own egg custard layer & the coconut rises to the top making a topping layer. How clever is that.0 -
Hi caz,
This thread may help:
Cup Measures?
I'll add your post to the main thread on impossible pie as your question may be useful to others who want to make it.

Just got back from Asda. Looking through the magazine there is an advert for "I can't believe it's not butter". Apparently there was a competition using the ingredient.
The winner says " Just returned fro a holiday in the Canadian \rockies, where I sampled a delicious dessert that inspired t recipe".......
Then they published the winning recipe.... IMPOSSIBLE PIE:eek:
She won £250 of Asda vouchers!
What's the betting that she never went anywhere, and just copied it from the Old Style recipe index?
Wish I'd thought of it:rotfl:I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Hi Hilstep,
Impossible pie has been around for ages, not just on Old Style, but I do think Aussie's version is one of the best.
I'll add this to the main Impossible pie thread later so that everyone can see the recipes.

I remember seeing it in a BBC book of favourite family recipes collected by Michael Barry. Wish I could remeber the exact title and what I did with it:doh:0
