Russell Hobbs breadmaker advice please

Sorry for duplicate posting, advised that I may get a better response on this board.

Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post this (apologies if not) but am considering buying a breadmaker and wondered if anybody has any experience of the following breadmaker? as can't seem to find an online review for it.

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produ...ber/4225733.htm

Is it worth the money?
Does it make decent bread?

Many thanks for looking.

    Hiya,

You've definately come to the right place! This BM sounds great, the timer function is fantastic as it means you can load it up before bed and set the timer to ensure you wake up to freshly cooked loaves - YUM. The onlything that differs from the dearer models is the "extras" dispenser, basically adds nut/raisins etc during kneading if desired. I know that some models beep when the times comes to add them so you can do it manually. DOwn to personal preference I think. Whatever model you buy, you wont look back, HM bread is devine!

Take a look at our new "Complete Breadmaker Collection" sticky at the top of Old Style.

Use the link in the box to our main thread which has lots of comments on various breadmakers in it.

    HTH :)

I have the RH Breadman Ultimate (which I think kiwi went for too?)

It makes fab bread - the fruit loaves are to die for and it's cakes are great too. Have you have BM bread before? If not, it's a bit heavier than shop-bought bread, because it's not filled full of air, extra fats and other nasty additives. You'll find that you can experiment a bit with quantities of salt when you first get it, until you find a taste you prefer.

One other thing - invest in a decent bread-knife. My life became somuch easier when I found that my new knife just slid through the loaf, after my old one made hard work of it (esp. fresh bread).

    Enjoy :)
  • Many thanks for the replies, to answer one or two of the questions, no we haven't had a breadmaker before (just me), mind you the bread was not bad, even if I say so myself, and the smell...... Can relate to the heavier bread (surely it's lighter out of a machine, then by hand?) and didn't mind it one bit.

Unfortunately I have LOST the manual for my breadmaker! I have searched the big Breadmaking Thread on the Forum but can't see any relevant info.

All I need to know is the order in which to put the ingredients as, for some reason, I did type out the ingredients/timings.

Was going to have homemade rolls with my homemade soup today ... oh well!

Would be great if someone could help.

I have a Russell Hobbs Breadman Ultimate.

I put water in first, along with salt/sugar/milk etc, then flour on the top then yeast on top of that.

Russell Hobbs are made by Pifco. If you can't find an instruction book online, you could try ringing them on:

In the back of the Argos catalogue, under "After Sales Service", there is a list of manufacturer's phone numbers.
Russell Hobbs is given as 0845 6589700. You get through to Salton Europe (also handles Tower, George Foreman and Carmen) who have instructions manuals available, even for discontinued models. There is a standard charge of £2.35, payable by debit/credit card.
"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.
