My first weigh in last night went fantastically. I lost 7lbs. In one week, that is half a stone gone already. Wow, I really can't believe it. Must have been doing something right!Sorting my life out to give a better life to my:heartsmil 2 gorgeous boys :heartsmil0

Well done again Flis! See - and weren't you worried that you'd gone two points over?! Keep it up!
sugajen: you did so well with not getting the chips. Family can sometimes mean well by saying those sorts of 'supportive' things but you'd have only felt guilty afterwards if you'd bought the chips!0 -
Thanks Lydia, yes I have lost the weight since joining SW, but I still have a long way (weigh!) to go, another 8 stone in fact. So I have to think in smaller amounts/goals, or I would go crazy.
Last year, I had to have a lump removed from my breast, it turned out to be fine, but when I went for my pre-assesment, and they weighed me, I weighed more than the beds in the day surgery could take, so they were unsure if they could operate in day surgery, or I would have to wait until they could fit me in in the main hospital. In the end they brought a special bed down from the main hospital just for me. I was thinking of what I could tell people why they had put off my operation, I couldn't face telling people that it was because I was too fat. When it was all over, and I got the all clear (it took a while, the pathologist was 'puzzled' by my lump and sent it somewhere else for a second opinion - in the end they just decided it was a non-malignant tumor, and are keeping an eye on me) I decided to do something about my weight, so joined SW.
That was my initial reason for joining. I guess over time, the feeling of shock over maybe not having a potentially bad lump removed quickly because of my weight has gone, now I need to get some major impetus/desire to lose weight again. Posting on here helps. Class is good, but it is only once a week. Here I can post when I want, and reading what other people are doing or thinking really helps.
Flis. 7lb is great. First the job, then losing half a stone, have you bought a lottery ticket for tonight yet?Quidco cashback paid out so far £745.89 :j0 -
Sue - I was just about to say the exact same thing about the lottery ticket! Well Done Flis thats a great week you are having!
Sue - thats a fantastic weight loss to far - good luck to you contuing with it0 -
Hi everyone - my first post in this forum. I started my 'healthy eating plan' (I am NOT on a diet!!) 6 weeks ago, and I have lost 1 stone. I am not going to a class or really following any plan, and I am getting a little bit bored now, which then in turn leads to me being a bit sneaky - couldn't stop munching last night...
I still live at home, and am currently looking for a new job. I am on JSA so can't really afford to be buying much food for myself, therefore I'm eating the same food all the time, esp fruit wise - apples and grapes. And can't afford to buy loads of different meals either, so i usually eat what my family are eating.
I do record my progress on Slimming World Online, so it's great that I have found somewhere to get the password! I hope to be able to get and give support on this thread as well.Blood donations to date: 10 | Type: O negative[/B][/CENTER]0 -
Hi naughty (does that apply to your eating habits?) and welcome alog to MSE and the Lose Weight thread. You are doing extremely well so far, well done, I don't hink you have much to worry about, just stay away from the munchies!
flis, 7lbs, wow! I don't want to burst your bubble but be prepared to only lose a little next week. That's what happened to a girl in my class and she was devastated the following week. It hopefully won't happen to you but don't be too disheatened if it does. I'm off to buy a lottery ticket in your name now!!!!I haven't got one!0 -
Welcome Naughty - well done with the weight loss so far, thats a great achievement. I admire you for doing it on your own - I don't have that willpower. Looking forward to hearing some of your tips to success!0

Hi, i have been browsing this site for a fw weeks now but hadent noticed this thread before, so i thought i would introduce myself and say a little about my weight loss recently.
my weight has always been a problem ever since i was 12 or something but going to the gym 3 times a week eating rabbit food etc between the age of 20-21 did nothing for me, i went to SW and to weight watchers, my personal trainer at the gym was at a loss why i had only lost 1st 8lb in a year!! he accused me of going to mcdonnalds after my work outs etc but with 6hrs exersize a week at the gym and NO junk food nothing was working, i went 8 months without tasteing chocolate!! only ate healthy meals tried the kellogs special K diet etc, it was a bit of a nightmare and very very VERY depressing to say the least!
the reason i started this was because i was 27st 12lb, yup thats right almost 28st! and my sister got married and i managed to get a nice suit for myself for the wedding but the whole day i felt a mess a complete mess, i felt like i was ruining the photo's etc and i really hated myself for a few months which is why i joined the gym and started dieting but as you have just read that dident really work
so april last year when i turned 22 i was considering surgery, again the consultant could not believe that i dident go home and eat 50 burgers a night and accused me of lying about what i was eating etc but by then i was getting used to it. he said something to me though which changed my life on that day he said
"well have you ever tried the low carb, atkins style diet? a lad of your size it would proabibly work really well"
and that was the day that changed my life for the better, i dident know much about atkins, SW and weight watchers were all about the points etc and the "we know better here eat this carrot and shut up" type attitude so i had to do a bit of research into it and decided to give it a go.
in 5 weeks on the atkins i had lost more then i had in the previous 12 months!! i did the atkins for 16 weeks in total before i had to have a break from it, i couldent take it anymore but i had lost a lot of weight! 5stone 10lb in total after coming off it my weight came back but i only put on 1stone after i came off it which i am told is normal (usually about 15%-20% of what you have lost will be put back on once u come off it) since then i have been regularly doing the atkins diet and i no longer go the gym i play squash twice a week instead which is 10X more fun and don't have people stairing at me all the time and getting paranoid.
i am aproaching my 23rd birthday in april and my goal was to be 20stone and my overall goal was to be down to 17stone (a comfortable weight for my hight etc)
i am 20st 11lb at the moment so i am dead chuffed.
the reason i am telling you this is not to give myself a pat on the back or a "look at me" moment but just more to tell u that i had given up completly and that the gym/rabbit food diets did nothing for me, so if you are struggleing like i was then maybe you might want t try the atkins as well?
if anyone wants i could do a top 10 thing to do/eat/try and avoid type thing, after doing it for so long i have discovered what works/what doesent and most imporantly to read between the lines of the diet and customise it to me
hope my little story helps anyone who is maybe in a similar position i was in or anyone who is maybe considering the atkins diet
i will give help/support to anyone who needs it! or anyone who is thinking of trying the atkins out, if you need any help or support along the way i am only a e-mail away
davebahn@hotmail.com or you can add me to msn if you need any help or advice or someone to help you if you need it or give you a will power boost!
hope this helps0 -
