Hi all,
I have been pointed towards your post for some support (and hope) in losing some weight. I have about 16-20lb to lose I guess and this would make me 9st although a little over this I would be happy with. I have been thinking about doing a Low Carb diet - I have never been a fan of these but have lots of weight on my tummy and midriff I need to shift. In the last 5 years I have had a couple of laporoscopies and have lost an ovary so becuase of the op (had a 10cm cyst removed so quite major) could not do any form of stomach exercises or the like while it healed. Very depressed about the flab I have and hate the thought of even my hubby seeing it these days - have also had 2 kids since as well. I am not complaining about my lot and don't feel I look that bad, I just need to get rid of this midriff and tummy and thought the low carb fast burn might be the way to go but I don't really know where to start. I can't imagine life without brea, pasta or potatoes but I don't feel great when I eat wheat anyway - very bloated - so I think it may help if I cut some of these out.
Just to add to it all I have lots of 'healthier' things I am allergic to. This means I very rarely cook with them as even the juices set me off wheezing (I have asthma). I thought I would try a bite of the kids apple the other day but was wheezing within 5 minutes and then my lips and toungue swell up and itch, add to this I cannot eat peaches, pears, strawberries (not all the time, sometimes I am ok for some reason) carrots, peppers, apples, prawns (am too scared to eat other seafoods as last time I was violently ill) so the whole diet thing gets pretty boring and depressing living on just grapes as fruit snacks and the same salads.
I wanted some support really, the quicker I lose it the better really as I feel any ab exercises are going to be pretty pointless with the flab hiding it all. I walk if I need exercise but I can't for too long because of my asthma and I get dizzy when I stop (blood pressure is fine). I feel the whole thing is getting on top of me and wanted some help. Anyone offer me some advice please - i feel like a complete whinger having re-read this mail so sorry for that. Thank you. x0 -
Hi blue_monkey
You've come to the right place for support, we are all here to help and encourage each other.
I have aback problem and also have aflabby tummy. I can't do sit ups etc because of my back so I'm hoping that it'll go away when I lose the weight. I have lost 11lbs in 5 weeks and I will have lost 2 stone by 15th April ( there's commitment).
If you get down or just need to chat, we're all here
Good luck, you can do itI haven't got one!0 -
Welcome Blue_Monkey and Good Luck - Keep posting so we know how you are getting on.
I joined SW and have lost 10.5lb in 5 weeks. Like Cheekymole I hope to have lost at least 1.5-2stone by mid April as I am going on a family holiday. Its a good idea to make small mini targets for yourself - they are more achievable (sp?) and you feel so good when you get to them. I got such a buzz when i got to my first half stone!
I've also got a bad back and can't exercise atm- cheekymole - are you sure we aren't related!!0 -

Hello everyone!! I started weightwatchers again today and need a bit of moral support!! I've got 28 lbs to lose and I go on a hen weekend in 5 weeks and 1 day with a load of skinny minnies. I dont think I'll lose it all by then but a few pounds would be ace.
Blue-monkey I did Atkins after I had my 2nd child. Its expensive, gets you constipated but I have never lost weight so fast! However I cant justify the expense again!
I can be good all day but terrible in the evenings especially if I have a glass of wine...!!Auntie Savingsgirl 24/9/06 :j0 -
Hi!
I turned 28 in October last year and realised that the post-baby fat I've been carrying has actually been there for 6 years and is actually getting worse!
I've been on a fairly strict diet for 2 months and initially lost 4 kilos in the first 4 weeks but since then I've not lost anything. I cannot exercise at the minute as I'm recovering from injury and short of lowering my intake below 1400 calories per day I really don't know what to do!
Any advice?

Hi again, thanks for your messages of support. I'll get some decent scales at the weekend and will make a fresh start. Can anyone give me some advice on what I should b eating. We are on a really strict budget (hence finding you guys) so I cannot afford all the faddy stuff you can usually buy - especially the Atkins stuff - but I really want to put what I can into this. I thought maybe I would do Low carb for a week, low fat for a week, would this work do you think? I cannot join WW or SW as I really cannot justify the expense right now (business not going anywhere fast and hubby about to lose his job) but it is knowing what I can eat when I can't eat a lot of the stuff that helps you keep trim. I went shopping at the weekend and things I know I would like - baby corn for example - is about £1.50 for a small packet. It is so expensive isn't it. or is it just me that thinks this? I am trying to get all of the low fat stuff for now. When I was breast feeing the weight fell off - not so this time though.
I will make sure I get those scales though and start as I mean to go on. I can't go anywhere far from home for the time hubby is in hospital (3 weeks) incase I get stuck and cannot get daughter back from school so what more of an excuse for a good walk do I have?
Heres to the way forward, thanks so much. xx0 -
Welcome savingsgirl and KatrinaC
