Sorry - what was the question?

I have received a 35 page booklet from the Halifax, titled; "Special Conditions - Bank Account Conditions - November 2009".

The booklet then goes on to list the accounts:

    Halifax Ultimate Reward Current Account

    Halifax High Interest Current Account

    Halifax Current Account

    Halifax Student Current Account

Halifax Reward Current Account is conspicuous by its absence!

Is this ominous? I am getting to like the idea of a few free fivers every month. :D

Incidentally, the booklet goes on to state (on page 4) that Condition 32 is a "new condition confirming that we will correspond with you in English." :D
  • Excuse my naivety, I've just opened up a Halifax Reward Account and after reading through some of the posts on this thread, wondered how you apply for multiple Reward Accounts with Halifax? Is it simply a case of waiting a few weeks then applying for a new account etc? Aren't they wise to people having multiple accounts?!

I doubt Halifax will simply abandon the Reward account after promoting it heavily. But I would not be surprised to see the Reward amount drop from £5.

Or a change in the requirements to qualify for the £5.

i rang them and they said something along the lines of because i made the £1000 deposit on 31/7/09 and it takes 24hrs to clear(?) that took it into a non-working day (and end of the month) so therefore i didn't qualify for the reward?

i think that's a load of bull because it was a transfer from a Halifax account and therefore immediate so i don't get the bit about it clearing/being available? also i always make the transfer on or very close to the last working day or last day of the month!!!

i was at work so had to make the call quick so didn't argue but this doesn't seem right to me?

anyone else deposit the money on 31/7/09 (immediately transfer out) and get their £5 reward?
  • I've just completed the online application, and selected the option to use the switching service. However I thought I would be asked to print out a couple of forms to sign and submit, but either I missed that stage, or it never happened....It went straight to saying it may take up to 14 days to authorise the account, and I'd be contacted then. Is this now normal procedure?

There aren't any forms to print & sign - the account is usually opened immediately and you receive a confirmation letter in the post.

If it says you'll be contacted in 14 days, then it would appear that someone is having to manually approve your account, for one reason or another.

Think it is quite common now to get applications manually checked. I was manually checked for my account- took 3-4 working days in that instance.

I guess they don't ask you to do switching until they can offer you an account.

I think that could be correct if the 31st is a Saturday but it was a Friday. My SOs are set to the 1st but didn't work though the system till the 3rd and arrived on the 5th. It is always a risk leaving it as late as that but I thought it would be O.K. Presumably you've met the £1k for next month then?

The only issue may be that I'm opening a joint account, but my wife doesn't earn a wage.
