I went into the branch to get gross interest paid on the account but only £5 is showing in the account online today. Do I have to contact someone to get the £1.25 added or do I wait for a whole year worth £15 then it gets added to the account?

I had a HICA and a Reward Current account. After reading the posts here I decided to try for two more Reward Current Accounts. The first one got approvd straight away, but the second one was pending approval. I just checked and it had been declined :( Maybe I shouldn't have tried applying for them both in one night!

Anyway I'm now thinking that I could UPGRADE my HICA to a Reward Current Account anyway. Anyone know if there could be problems upgrading if you've just been declined for a third Reward Current Account? Should I wait? Is there a credit check involved in upgrading, or is it a simple matter of redesignating it? I don't want too many marks on my credit report!

I don't see why that should be a problem as Halifax are phasing out the HICA. If switching to all Reward accounts you need to be sure you do not need an overdraft as the charges for this are relatively high on the Reward account.

I believe you need to claim it back off inland revenue yourself if you're a non tax payer, halifax won't pay it gross.

Mine has been credited also to all 3 accounts, I would not have expected to see this until Tuesday, with the credit date of the 1st, this is how it has been done previously.

It's usually (always?) paid to the account on the overnight processing run at the end of the first working day of the month.

You'll probably see it Tuesday morning, but it'll be backdated to the 1st of the month, ie today.
Apologies for my duff information. I've now banished myself to corner of the room and I'm facing the wall. :o

In theory, there's no balance required because you can have an overdraft - therefore it's just a case of maintaining a positive balance to avoid the £1/day OD fee. 1p would appear to fulfill that requirement, though you run the risk of being labled tightars' :D
