Just a quick question. The terms and conditions state that:

If you pay in £1,000 or more during any month you will receive one reward
    payment the following month

Does anyone know whether they're referring to a calendar month? I assume they are - so that £1000 can be paid in at any time in each calendar month (June, July, August etc).

It could mean, though, that £1000 has to be paid in every 31 days, which is rather different.

but some people might be using the Halifax account as, .....well an actual bank account....lol..

Those people might not pay in 1000.00 a month and might even go overdrawn and pay Halifax its charges which is what Halifax use to pay us our 5.00 a month x 3 accounts credits. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Applied for another Reward Account last night for savings since my savings are getting under 3% (and only 4% with Halifax, using this gets me more!

Got told the account was open- sort-code numbers- but then was told it required further checks... and the account is sitting unclicable saying application decision with not a lot else.... Reading through- seems quite common, did we get an answer as to how long it takes for a decision- and is yes or no....

In my case it took a few days, then a letter arrived saying they hadn't been able to verify my identity. Odd - because the application was made online through the secure pages, and there hadn't been any problem opening the earlier accounts.

Same thing exactly happened to my wife.

They've clearly tumbled this one and are just using silly excuses not to open accounts.

Husband tried opening a third account in February, and was refused. They said because he'd already got two, which was a lame excuse as I'd already opened three.

I rang Halifax the other day to transfer some money and the woman said "you have a few Reward accounts here...". I said "yes". She said "there's a limit on how many you can have". I said nothing, as I am a) well aware of the limit and b) within it (I have three, and a fourth was closed by Halifax in May). She filled the silence by saying "have you heard about our Ultimate Reward?" The cheek of it!

Yep, I only had the one, which in fairness I have been using at cash machines- not simply tarting the £1000 in and out- it always has some balance as I use it!

Never had any problems opening a regular saver- but wait and see. :D

unless you are actually using the account to pay things/bills etc

I'm not ashamed to say I am!
I've had an account with just about all of the high street offerings.
For faster payments, it's one of the best.
The only thing I dislike is the inability to download a statement until they roll up the month!!
I've not gone overdrawn since 1998 (after they charged me I vowed I'd make as much money from them as I could) so the dodgy overdraft setup is irrelevant.
Oh, & I'm not that impressed with the online security, your stuffed if there's a key logger on your machine.
