I went into the branch today to pay in the £100 on my 2nd rewards account.

The cashier I spoke to also said that the money has to stay in overnight.
  • Appears Halifax systems update at 3am for around 20 minutes so best to avoid ringing the 0845 number around that time.

Has anyone else discovered their online access suspended for no apparent reason after just one initial login attempt ?

The initial £100 to get the card/cheque book sent out does definitely need to be there overnight. But it's the £1000 monthly payments that countrychick83 and I were talking about.

I did ask her about that, but she seemed to miss the point as I was paying into the BOS one. She was more interested in why it wasn't a 'Halifax' one, even though I told her I had one of them also lol

I think I'll just wait and see what happens. This month I have managed to leave the money in overnight, but it would be nice not having to :)
  • it just needs to stay in one night thats it .

I have £1000 in my reward account
    I transfer in another £1000
I transfer out, on the same day, £1000

Which £1000 did I transfer out, the one I just put in, or the existing one?

  • Just scraped in on time with the £1000 transfers for this month! Had to use BACS transfer and was worrying they would take 4 days and not make it before the month was up, and it didn't help that this is a short month, so I am very pleased both accounts are showing the credits this morning and hopefully my "rewards" will be paid soon.
Best rate of interest ever! Well done to these banks. :T (Just ok my other applications soon please, hehe).

I actually got a letter through from my Lancaster branch *after* I opened [one of my accounts] saying if I went in with my payslip, 2 forms of ID and £100 of funds they would arrange to switch my DD's/SOs from another bank and give me £40 cash as a thank you :)

Luckily my transfer from A&L to Abbey has just gone through for their £100 so I will now transfer my solitary DD (poor old Talk Talk!) to Halifax for £40 - bingo!

Obviously I've already funded my three accounts so I'm hoping they don't need all the payslips and stuff but I'll happily go over the street get a list of DDs and SOs from Abbey and grab my £40, ta very much :)

I would opt for the first one - FIFO

There is nothing in the terms and conditions to say that the £1000 has to stay in overnight - conceptually it would never work if they enforced this, as otherwise you would be effectively blocked from withdrawing money from your account on the day of salary/other deposit that would take your net deposit for the day under 1k
