    Lol...what makes you thing we didn't? :confused::D

    Agree with you regards the range of quality on offer though. I came away wanting to turf my eldest out so I could transfom his room into a walk in sauna! :rotfl:

    Sorry, I did not mean to imply you had not done research. When I go to B&Q I find they have a limited range on display, whereas in Laings we found every type of bath & shower on display. They had exactly the set up we wanted, thus we could try before we bought:j . The downside was we ended up buying a much more expensive bath and fittings.:mad:

    No worries missile. :) Actually we didn't go to any of the 'usual' suspects at all....(B&Q, Wickes, Homebase etc)...we actually ended up travelling reasonably far afield in our search (as Edinburghlass can testify to as she very kindly looked up opening times and texted them to me, whilst we were driving, lol).

    Wish I could take a photo to show you our set-up, but DS2 has pinched the camera:rolleyes: I'll see if I can describe.... We don't have wall-mounted taps. The water for the bath comes out of the overflow fitting, which is at the shower end of the tub. The overflow fitting also raises/lovers the plug. The flow is controlled by two (what look like) tap heads (??) which are mounted on the bath half way along the wall side, so they are easy to reach (not blocked by screen at all) Also we wanted them on that side so that you don't have to climb over them to get in. The fit on the rim of the bath, which is slightly wider at that point. The shower we chose is a completely separate unit, so can be changed without disturbing the bath, should we ever want to.
    I seem to remember searching high and low to see the one we wanted, and then bought it from an independent supplier for a fraction of the cost of the showroom places.:cool:

    Bennifred...where's the plughole? Beside the overflow end or in the centre of the bath?

    I thought I'd found the perfect solution there for a minute, I could have put one mono tap in the back corner of the bath and still reach it easily as the screen slides.......

    ...then I realised I wouldn't be able to get my shower on the end wall. :rolleyes:

    if going for a p-shaped bath, remember they will take alot of water to fill them, so a hot water tanked system, might not have enough water. But shouldnt be a problem with a combi

    however, the main problem with a p-shaped bath, as said above, is the space needed to open/closed the shower screen , So in the end, we went for an extra wide straight bath, and added a halfscreen/curtain combo. No problems in reaching the taps, and makes the room look more spacious, as you dont have a massive screen on show (also cuts down on the cleaning)

    Yep, by the overflow end. It is flush fitting when the plug is down, though, so no discomfort there!:D

    sounds like Bennifred had a similar idea to us regarding siting of taps.

    Thought these pictures may help

    I got my P bath from batstore for about 500, appears to be 400 now but I'm not sure I like the new design as much as the old one.

    Took a while to fit it, putting it in wasn't hard, getting the old one out is a nightmare! I fitted the taps in the far corner, at the top of the line in the P shape.

    One tip , get one of these from halfords

    http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_183235_langId_-1_categoryId_165609

    means you only have to clean the screen once in a while, without it it needs cleaning all the time.
