We just had ours fitted. it's 1700 in length and 850 wide, cam with the screen, rail and side panel for an excellent £279. I love it. For the first time ever I can lay down and be covered by water as it is 450 deepTopCashback £1792.63My Little World0

Bought our straight bath shower from Homebase complete with glass shower screen on one of their special offers for less than £200 mainly because I prefer carrying on the tiles up the sides of the bath rather than a white plastic side. Drawback is that the tap holes are included (bad mistake on their part) so we bought a thermostatic shower/bath tap which works really well but aesthetically it would have been much better to have side filling bath and wall mounted shower but ours is a budget build so you have to compromise and it looks great!0

Cheers everyone.
We spent yesterday looking around bathroom showrooms and aren't much further forward really. We saw loads of P shaped baths and obviously loads of straight ones too and the straight ones were without doubt wider internally (at the bath end) than the P shaped ones.
One thing I have got a bit of a problem with now though is the siting of the taps. I was originally going to have wall mounted taps at the end of the bath, on the same wall as the shower. However this would mean reaching around the shower screen to turn the taps on and I'm thinking that would be an issue with a wide screen?
The alternative is to have the taps on the bath in the middle of the long side and the shower on the other end wall but would that look daft not having things together iyswim?Herman - MP for all!0 -
Just finished my bathroom, no fancy p shaped bath but I did change the shower screen from a slide second part into first part type to the folding type and I love the folding type. After a shower you can move it over the bath to allow the water to drip off into the bath and although I don't have enough space to keep it folded into four it does fold up well enough to keep it out of the way of getting hold of the shower head to clean the bath and reach the bath taps.0

im looking for a shower bath.... i like the P shape - however the screens make the package ubar expensive....
was in B&Q yesterday and spotted a shower bath which was 690 at one end and something like 800/850 at the other end and it wider for about 2/3rds of the way along the bath - ideal for us as we want a bigger bath and shower area - but are limited for space at one end!!!

When we refitted our bathroom some while back, we opted for a P shaped shower bath. Ours has the taps on the long side in the middle and I'm perfectly happy with that setup. Ours also has a solid curved glass shower screen which just swings in over the bath when not in use.
I'm no tiddler, but I find the bath quite wide enough at its straight end, but to be honest, since getting this our first shower, I now prefer to shower most of the time.

I suggest you visit one of the better distributors where they have a display so you can try it for yourself.
WEALTH WARNING. You will also see some better quality baths / fitments. As with most things, you get what you pay for "A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Thanks for the pic Dave, it's always helpful to see other people's set ups in situ.
Showrooms are great but they're not always 'true to life' lol.
My lads are 5'10 and over 6' and one of them is chunky to say the least. The bath we have now is terrible, we bought it on a whim one day and everyone hates it. It's one of those that has a slight curved design and where it narrows, it makes the bath very tight fitting so we use that as a guide when considering new baths.Herman - MP for all!0 -
That is how mine was fitted and I did not have a problem

Lol...what makes you thing we didn't?
Agree with you regards the range of quality on offer though. I came away wanting to turf my eldest out so I could transfom his room into a walk in sauna! :rotfl:Herman - MP for all!0 -
i had one of these in a house that i rented, and when the tap started leaking, just a bit the agents for the landlords had to authorise the banging of a hole in a stud wall, as dur to the positioning of the taps on the monstrosity the plumber could not get into the wall bound corner where the taps were situated to tighten whatever he had to tighten!!!!
and they take ages to fill for a bath...
