Vista has two pre-loaded themes, vista and windows classic. Sounds like you're showing windows classic (which looks like w98, w2k, me, etc...the "old" ones but NOT XP). right, you need to....

put cursor/pointer on an empty part of desktop.

right-click and select personalise

select themes

select windows vista from the dropdown menu

if it lets you do this, you should be sorted

hmmm....is that screenshot in safe mode ?? think you need to alter the display properties as administrator in normal mode...

must admit, I'm beginning to struggle a bit for suggestions on this one....anyone got any ideas

It won't even let me onto the "personalise" bit now, and both my ITunes and Youtube has died.
Sigh... I guess I'll just have to lump it.

UPDATE.


I decided to just try making a new user and that has seemed to work okay.

So if there are future problems, I'll ask again here, but it should be okay right now.

hope you remembered to give the new user account administrator privileges !!!!!
