    They eventually go back though.

Congratulations Robowen on your visa. What state are you planning to settle in?

I'm going to a small place called Banora Point NSW. The local town is Tweed Heads which is 5 minutes away.
Tweed Heads is literally on the border of Queensland and NSW. There is a plaque to mark the border line in the centre of the town and if you step over it into Queensland, you have to put your clocks back 1 hour...its so weird. We got caught out a few times when going for lunch. Thinking it was 12.oo, we got there to find no restaurants open.

Yes I know :p I'm from Qld and live in the Brisbane region. The gold coast was our holiday destination. :D It's grown now of course but still a good place to visit with nice beaches. Bit pricey and touristy  but that's to be expected. The daylight saving is stupid. Every year there is usually a big debate on it. Really annoying like you said for the places on either side of the border.

PM me when you settle and we can meet up for a  Your shout of course. :D
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

i've just returned from brissy and loved it,

we were staying with friends though, so saved on hotels etc..
went to surfers and loved it too, Q1 tower is a must great views.

i want to emigrate but OH is not sure, as she is very close to her mother.

visa wise i'm not sure what to do, i run my own company albeit small.
i'm a painter and decorator but never went to college so dont have any papers/qualifactions etc.... just served my time and learnt from other tradesmen.

i'm 30 this year and i've been doing it since i left school at 16.

other option is for OH to do her nurses training but that woud take 3years and she prob would be fast tracked coz of the shortage. She is an auxillary nurse in the hospital at the mo with her svq level3 but i don't think that counts for owt over in oz.

dont fancy paying someone £1500-£2000 to apply for you, but dunno how complexed our case would be.

would like to head to brisbane or not too far from it, just need to play it by ear.
