Thats a lot of money! I paid £425 a year ago in Turkey when on holiday for a 4 unit bridge plus 2 extractions. My dentist was amazed, his price about £!600

    Morning all

Havent yet looked at the aboce linked list but will have a ganders in a minute

I rang my dentist this morning asn to clarify she said - I am still covered under exemption until 10th October becuase it is seen as ongoign treatment (ie all my fillings were previously found to be needed so it is ongoing treatment) then come october 10th i need to be orally fit to sign onto the DenPlan otherwise i will lost my place at the dentist and in turn my son loses his spot too.

My son is covered under exemtion until he is 18 though so that is a relief but i need to get seen - [problem for me is i was butchered by a german dentist when i was 8 years old and they terrify me, now i am still scared of them but have a ncie understanding dentist who is very good - who to be honest i dont want ot lose as it will put me back a few paces i think) jsut wanted to let you knwo about the dental update though.

Now anyone know how to get hold of replacement exemption certificates - i had my new ones nad have done the stupidest thing and 'put them in a safe place' - so safe i now cant find the little sods!

On the subject of teeth, I lost a bridge of 3 teeth last year the NHS will only offer full dentures & I'm not keen on having all my teeth out, privately the cost will be between £15,000 & £28000, so I have remained gappy & I hate it.

That wouldn't be the price of just replacing a 3 unit bridge.

Neither would extraction of all your remaining teeth and a full denture be the NHS treatment plan if all that had happened was that a 3 unit bridge had broken.

I suspect that there is a lot more going on in your mouth than just a missing 3 unit bridge.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

HDUH and Katie we lived in n wales for 8 years. If you are serious about living and being accepted in n and w wales then you could do with being pretty fluent at speaking Welsh. That is if you want to have trade other than tourists and if you want to get on with the locals. I love where I live in s wales, my surroundings are beautiful and the people are lovely and so naturally friendly. Everyone talks to each other everywhere

kittie am i right in thinking your over in pembs??

i live in port talbot - which is a nice area in south wales but on occassion can be horrid, but then thats like everywhere i guess.
i agree though that in north and west wales - if you cant speak fluent welsh or at least enough to hold a decent conversation then you are seen as a somewhat outsider which isnt nice. ive been in south wales 9 years now (5 in Port Talbot and 4 over in St Athan) and they were both lovely and friendly.

no not pembs, near cowbridge. In n wales we lived in the middle of no-where near ruthin. It was the loneliest 8 years of my life. Unless you were born and bred round there, people used to clam up when you walked into the room. Even playgroup was like that. Here, Swansea, Cardiff, Talbot green, caerphilly and all around it is just so incredibly friendly. Everyone talks to you and best of all people have no airs and graces

LOL Sammy. Small world indeed. The locals in cowbridge aren`t posh, it is the day trippers who come down, all fur coats and no knickers

I live in Cheshire as well in a small town but surrounded by villages where all the women have 4x4s that have never seen mud let alone been across a field! So essential of course for taking the single child to school. I too am looking forward to seeing how the local 'wealthy set' cope in the coming months.

It wont bother them in the slightest. Same as they are more then happy to pay the congestion charge, sell house and move to a desirable catchment area, full the car with a tank full of petrol at over a hundred quid a time, pay the extra fuel surcharges on flights abroad - etc etc etc

Its never those ones whom the extra taxes are supposed to hit who feel the brunt Im afraid. Its the joe blogs like you and I - middle/low earners who keep the country afloat with the jobs that we do that pay so little - public service workers usually or those of us in the service industry
