I think it's stories like this:

that put people off of BF their young ones.0 -
Women dont do themselves any favours. They fought for years FOR certain things & as soon as they got them, half of them turned and started fighting AGAINST them!
Tolerance, respect, and polite silence have great value !!0 -

And all of those food intollerances coud have happened just as easily when the child was weanedWhy "blame" breastfeeding
For the vast majority of children, mother's milk is exactly what they're designed to eat.

It doesn't seem to be the done thing to be single, celibate, not looking...

Oh yes, moany, my dd thinks I'm making this up but I remember when I worked full time and my tax rebate was paid by cheque to my husband! And I've lost count of the number of times I've shopped for a carpentry tool (I love carpentry!) only to have the salesman ask me what my husband wanted it for  I'm sorry to say there were a few salesmen with severe 'mental bruises' by the time I left the shop
oh, the heady days of feminism........
It saddens me to see that women are still under pressure to conform to one or other ideal but now its pressure from other women; seems we've fought against male 'domination' for want of a better word, only to find ourselves under domination of a different sort. Nobody knows the right answer for everyone, we all have the right to make our personal decisions based on our own beliefs, needs, finances, and other circumstances.
re price rises, I seem to remember in the 70's that the price of (Brazilian?) coffee rocketed and there was general outrage and a boycott and the prices came back down - anyone else remember this? Worth remembering that consumer pressure can bring changes - we vote with our purses.... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

I agree with this point too but if a woman, having weighted all pros and cons (what cons? I say, but other women might think there are some) - then decides not to breastfeed, there is no point in bashing her ears.
Ceridwen I am also scandalised that you were made to pay for sterilisation, after all kids are much more costly to the NHS than the op and so is NHS-provided free contraception for a lifetime too, silly policies!
I would have hated to be questioned over my choice of childlessness or otherwise - I hate being interrogated and when people poke their noses in my business (that's why I left Italy so early in my life, because nobody minds their own business there!:rotfl: ).
What we are discussing are difficult and complicated subjects that raise people's hackles like no other. It is good to see that everybody is keeping their comments gentle and respectful, even when dissenting, this is why I like this forum so much (((GROUP HUG)));)

Rosieben you can come and put up shelves and make bits of carpentry around my house anytime you want! I am one of these "useless with tools" women:rotfl: but I know what you mean, when you talking to the workman/builder/bricky/plumber/whatever and he answers to the husband, it makes my blood boil!

EDITED TO SAY: shouldn't we change the title of this thread? Things HAVE NOW BECOME TOUGHER to all purposes and extents, haven't they? Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Just thought I'd let you know, morrisons are doing buy one get two free on pepsi atm. One bottle is £1.45. So, just under 50p a bottle. Might not be too healthy but a good offer for those with a sweet tooth
Counting down the minutes until home time. Having a go at making a tea loaf! Got myself a brand spanking new bread tin at the ready. Found the recipe in my 'happy campers' book. Its got loads of tips for easy camping food you can make on the fire, as well as games to play during the day and at night in the dark. (makes me want to go camping but it's far too cold!!) Me and my BF have booked a winter caravan for a weekend so I'm trying to figure out some OS meals but at a guess we'll go to aldi and get some of their 'ready to cook' meals.0
