Mardatha and Mrs Tittlemouse......."oooh...you are naughty" (said in Frankie Howard tones)...."but I like you":D :rotfl: :rotfl:

Rightie-o.....if I get "shown the door" at work and someone asks me for anything I have there.....I wont throw it at them then....I'll just "accidentally" drop it on their feet.....and say "sorry" - HEH! If it was heavy - I'll even offer to accompany them to the Casualty Dept at the local hospital (for moral support you understand!)
  • awoke at 8 this morning. Unbelievable for me and sleeping like a babe now.

just thinking how life goes on with or without us, that stuff re the US bailout sickens me re their lack of compassion for ordinary people but hey there is nothing I can do except to go behind the barricades with the fleece covered brigade.

I know people are so worried about jobs here but believe me worrying does nothing to help except it harms your health. I remember too well that pit in my stomach that cropped up over the years, the 3 day week, the 15% mortgage, the sudden half salary. If you are adaptable ie bendy, then you can survive. It is the rigid ones who break

I`m thinking of you all and hoping that we all get through the next few weeks safely :grouphug:
  • I'm quite worried actually - everyone here in NPT south wales seems to be gettign made redundant. I know at least 4 people who have lsot their jobs in the last week. Quite scary - im just praying my job and bfs stays safe although that could be a downer as my mum works with my bf (same depot) so would hate to think it was one or the other.

Scary stuff. Am already stocking up on bits though and saving money aside 'just in case' but hopign seeing as my job is understaffed if anything and i have been there over 2 years now that im relatively safe but never say never

    Time to find me again

:shhh: ...don't tell anyone....*looks furtively over both shoulders*...we have the Revolutionary HQ meetings in our lounge....*sneaks out backwards*

My offspring are all in their twenties now & it's been the three of them & me for a good many years. When they were little--& to an extent now--I didn't hide things from them but didn't go into too much detail either, so they have a fair knowledge of how the world can jump up & bite you on the keister when you're not looking.

None of us fully understand the financial market SIZE=1]even less so now Dermot has left Breakfast tv, but I like that aussie chappie[/SIZE but we do try to follow the implications on Joe P. Any politician who pops up on tv, is greeted with a sea of faces looking like they're sitting next to an open sewer :p & boy! does the air turn blue!!!

Guess what I'm trying to say is....there are plenty of people who feel as aggrieved as our little honestead, so in all seriousness
how long does any political party think it will be, before there is a revolution? The ordinary person, trying to make a living in the real world, has had enough! It's about time the employees in the Palace of Westminister started listening to the people who pay their wages & stopped taking us for fools.

Re Ceridwen's comment about black humour, I certainly agree that in the difficult times we often find a way of resorting to darker humour as a way keeping our spirits up. For anybody who wants to delve further on this particular topic, I've just finished reading "Hammer & Tickle - the History of Communism told through Communist Jokes" by Ben Lewis." I borrowed it from our library and if anybody wants an example of how the Russians survived the worst Stalinist purges and other difficult times, they will find this a fascinating read.
And for all those who are staring redundancy in the face, my thoughts are with you. We've lived through this situation more than once in our family. It is stressful and worrying but pulling together and keeping your sense your humour is important. You can't fight external and internal wars at the same time.

Good one. Now got visions of some sorta "Bread Monster":D . I make up double the quantity of it and then use 2 large-size bread tins for it (couldnt tell you what on earth the material is they're made of - never seen owt else like it - and they are long thin shape ones). Thinks...reminds me....will have to try and figure out where I got them - as I could do with another one. I tend to make it Sunday morning - my mother often turns up visiting Sunday afternoon. Two totally unconnected facts of course;) - but then one of my loaves tends to go out the front door with her....when I told someone this the other day they said "Well - you'd better make a 3rd loaf specially - any time you know she is coming up"....er...good point I guess....

We're still eating it and I'm taking a third of it to Dad's with me this weekend!

I measured the loaf and it was 11 inches by 11 inches round and it stood just over 3 inches deep!! It had to go into my cake box as the bread box was way too small for it!

To make it even better, I've just discovered that DH used the wrong flour, he used the plain wholemeal flour I bought from Asda last weekend for 27p (1.5kg) on special rather than the strong bread flour so your bread is really fab...wish I'd bought more of the cheap flour! :rotfl:

:rotfl: Well....in that case the man with the camera to take a photo of the inside of your sitting room from outside is en route to your place right now........:D .......well, he COULD have been an estate agent:cool: -.I AM talking about an incident way back in my younger days....these days..I'd be straight out the door and grab his collar - if only for a diversion from a load of jargon I didnt understand anyways....;) (errr....whats the "proletariat" when its at home?)

Love beads - check (got them)
Joss sticks - check (got choice of them)

I've also got candles - to cast the situation "in a flattering light"
Crystal ball - well, I only got as far as seeing a grey mist in it - but someone else might be able to "read the future" better than I could:D
Dowsing equipment - well, I'm gonna need that there "buried treasure" me hearties - yo ho ho!
