My selfish gain ? Why if I complained in the first place is that selfish ? Who too exactly ? I don't mind if people complain, the more the merrier, I think a lot did, but people should complain then get the letter.

I just hate the thought of people becoming too fat and lazy to write a simple email. ;D

hi sharon juss chill out and go and get one love. i picked mine up in the store already so did my friend. i got halo2 with mine as they didnt have one of the games so i cd choose another. my friend got the original offer no halo2 but he is still happy to get it at that price as he will sell the games and keep the console. actually hes thinking of selling it all but im trying to get him to get halo2 and keep it for online play aginst me.

what to do is already written but to make it easy for ya juss make a complaint to asa. then call that number and she will reserve one at your nearest store and you juss go and pick it up simple. so yes juss collect it in store.

Great post Sainthalo, imho this is exactly the type of thing that this site is about - exploiting loopholes to put one over big companies like Toys r us who continually make whopping profits from us.

The problem is if everybody who posted got such a hard time as you have I think people would think twice.

Why is it fraud Talkshop. Toys R Us advertised this offer then pulled it. They're the ones in the wrong here. How do they and the ASA know that me or you or anyone else for that matter didn't go for this offer, find out it had been pulled and then walk away with a whimper, only to find out a couple of weeks later that, hey, if you complain to the ASA you get it after all.

This is no different from Redoute, Amazon, CD Wow codes etc.

HI RTI, took like 3 seconds! i juss said i had read a letter from the ASA which i had here (it was on my screen at the time) and that could she sort me out an XBOX then as i missed out. She said wheres your nearest store and i told her and then she said it will be waiting for you at the store. then i went to the store and the customer service guy tried to sell me a different deal (grrrrr!) but the manager said no he is allowed to have the original deal. then as he didnt have munchs game he said i could choose another game. i quietly picked up halo2 and took to counter. was only in th store 5 minutes and 3 minutes on phone.

Well done for a successful ASA complaint (and I've done a good few in my time) ... but they are SO annoying in that they cover up investigations like this. Just because the advertiser admits being in the wrong, and promises to be good in future, they don't complete the investigation OR PUBLISH THE FINDINGS.

How that's in the public interest I'll never know.

I have complained to ASA, (but never saw the original ad, I admit) seems fair enuf to moan when people missed out on original deal just cause they didn't know. OK, I'm a person of loose morals.
