Admiral are also the cheapest for me. Ironically I was with them last year and they've just quoted £407.00 to renew the policy but if apply as a new customer, they're quoting £259.00! I don't think they've got any cashback offers on. I've check Quidco, Rpoints and Topcashback and none have links to Admiral that I can see. Can't think of any other ways of shaving anything off, other than phone up and haggle tomorrow!0

Just heard about the Barclays challenge but didn't hold out a lot of hope of getting their £50 cashback (my renewal quote was £138.60 for 12 months self & spouse fully comprehensive with protected NCB on a Yaris).
Although a couple of other firms have beaten it by £10 or so online (and I wasn't going to bother going through all the hassle of changing for such a small saving), Barclays were £60 or so more expensive. Annoyingly, I had to go through the whole quote thing on the phone despite having a reference number for my online quote - but they offered me cover for £1 less than my renewal quote and to send me a £50 cheque when they'd had sight of my renewal documents.
So that's 12 months self and spouse fully comprehensive, protected NCB for £87.60!
Result.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Just done the Barclays £50 challenge:
My renewal £305, Barclays quote £540, brilliant just made £50 or so I thought. Guess what they won't price match because I beat them by over £200!!!!0 -
We went through TopCashBack.co.uk to get £45 cashback by using the Post office, and the Post office are giving us £50 in postal orders back. So cost of insurance for self, spouse and one other named driver, fully comp, two of us having made blame claims in the last three years,NCD protected,£100 excess.....£89(once cashback is through!!).:j0

Heinz which company was that? And how many years NCB? We have a Yaris too, only Mr. Annando drives, and the best we could get with cashback (Screentraders) and protected NCB was £150.
Cheers!0 -

Anyway, I went with Lloyds TSB (quote was £153.30) last year because, via GreasyPalm, I could get £30 cashback - effectively the policy cost £123.30.
This year, when the renewal arrived (at a surprising £138.60) I did the usual and went online for quotes - but couldn 't get anything more than £10 cheaper - can't remember who with now but I certainly tried elephant.co.uk and confused.com
So, with GreasyPalm now offering £40 cashback on LloydsTSB car insurance, I was just about to use that (i.e. buy a new policy online from LloydsTSB and ignore the LloydsTSB renewal I'd just received) when I saw the Barclays ad on TV for £50 cashback for household insurance. I thought I'd see if they had the same offer on car insurance and, sure enough, they did.
So, that's why I posted. Barclays offered to beat my renewal quote and the £50 cashback so I tried online. They failed miserably to beat my renewal quote but I had to do the 0800 phone call duplication to get the offer.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
