this is our month to really tackle the shopping bill, we set ourselves a target but just spend regardless.
the baking is mostly due to my having given up chocolate for lent. I had a hard time last night, so thought if i could cook something sweet that would help.
think we're going to need to buy some more compost, bought some on offer which would normally sort us for a year but now we have to build up the beds that's going to need a fair bit addied to it.

Haven't caught up on everything yet, still trying.

LT, no you didn't miss the news from my work they are still deciding :(

As for dentist, they've done a patch. It doesn't hurt as much as it did before but my teeth are VERY sensitive. Anyone know any good remedies to get them to settle? I've to go back in a few weeks and they'll either take the nerve out of my tooth or take the tooth out!!!!

As for hospital, my op's going ahead! I'm so pleased. Nothing too major (quite a few large moles removed from my face) but it will give me my confidence back. Fed up of comments asking what it is on my face!!!!! Ok so it means scars but those I can handle and cover with make up, great big bumps you can't!!!
I'm a bit scared really, but I know it'll make a huge difference. I get my biopsy in the next few weeks. Anyone know of anyone who's had this done? Little worried that I'm not going to be able to do my extra job (I really need to talk for that one) when I have the op as my face might be too sore. But I know in the long run it'll be worth it. I've wanted this done for 15 years.

Hugs about the dentist and about your op - you sound very brave. I am sure it will be worth it in the end.

What have you missed? Just Hamster being naughty and repremanded - the odd bit of dodgy poetry and the discover of some new zealand flatworms.

    Not much really!!

    Todays update

Well OH seems to be on better form and is less sulky. Ho hum - is it worth it - potentially.

Bank - all is OK (ish) considering monster spends last month, this month I will be good.

CC's taken a bashing but the banks will sort that out once I am paid - out goes the rent then out goes all money to CC except the DD's.

Looking for the books YB recommended - Frugal cooking will post them on here later if anyone interested. I am reading a lovely Thirfty Gardening book at mo - very inspirational - so am going to ATTEMPT not to buy anything this year for the garden that I can't recycle from something I already have.

Need to more clear outs - does anyone NEED 6 watering cans - probably not.

Debt wise - feel a bit uneasy about this month as I know the B&B money stops after the end of March. Non-committment from chap in office re room at the mo.

Got a few trips away in March and early april, lots to write and lots to do with PhD in the willow fields.

Been asked to redesign a garden for someone at work - who I know quite well - not sure if we are talking favours or hard cash. Will see if she just wants pointed in the right direction or me to get my hands VERY dirty.

Had a couple enquiries from sweet old dears at the local garden centre when they heard me talking to DS about plants - asked me if I was a 'professional gardener' - and would I be interested in some light gardening - someone told me before that 'lady gardeners' are often sought after as some folks prefer us to those hairy men types.

Having a think, its potentially a source of income - but my time is so constrained at the mo - but maybe its an alternative route should I need it.

Hamster I am designing a special run for you in the garden - you will be able to see the daffodils, but won't be allowed to play on the BRB until you can behave.

    xx

I have said evil New Zealand Flatworm on my desk in a Jar (they don't freeze well) and after I show it to the local horticulture group - I think I might pour alcohol over it and keep it for reference. It will go with the rest of my bug collection in jars in alcohol on the shelf.

Its a bit like making sloe gin - stuff them into jars and leave to mature - but I wont be drinking this stuff - blewugh:D

I think the gardening could be a good extra income for you. I know its all good and well saying make time but I think you'd enjoy it. Especially as its something you like doing. Why not put a card in the paper shop and see what feedback you get? That way you have something to fall back on if your work colleague procrastinates even more about renting the room.

Thanks for the positive thoughts about the op.

    Yeah thanks
WIll think about it - problem with me is I don't do grass.

Bit of a problem for a gardener - but I guess if I only had a couple of folk to look after it might be ok.

    Hope work is ok xx

The gardening would give you some extra cash, more in summer than winter I should imagine. Only downside is that it will take you away from your own garden.

Perhaps you should investigate your idea of growing and selling plants, it sound a viable extra cash option to me. Design some fancy stick on labels for the pots and you'll be onto a winner!
