hi fay, glad you've been getting support from your kids and family.
I've just shocked the heck out of myself, i turned on the energy owl, and it's telling me an horendous story, but how am i suposed to dry washing/ clear damp without a little bit of heat? or cook dinners without using leccy (no gas here). guess it's just going to be more and more layers.0 -
Look after yourself, sweets
we all love ya
I've got a peedie tree that's still in a pot so can keep it all year round. Bear Towers now smells very strongly of pine
LT, sometimes I think you've got to ignore that energy owl. All the layers in the world won't dry things or cook dinner so don't let it stress you

Fay, so glad you've got a nice supportive family round you to make decisions
Sooooo hard - but remember you're not burning any bridges here, even if you decide not to carry on now, that doesn't mean you can NEVER go back to it if you want to some day... x x
Cheers for all your lovely words
What they actually said was "horrible opening sentence, like something from the Daily Mail, which does NOT belong in a thesis" - a horrible sentence, which in my opinion does not belong in an examination report!
Anyway, moving on... (PhD was about environmental values and identity and transport by the way - I don't mention it often cos I can't bear to talk about it, and people seem to find it so interesting that I get loads of stories about how terrible bus journeys are, which I can't use, and I have listened to for years, and I don't want to talk about ANYTHING to do with transport or identity EVER AGAIN!). I'd much prefer to be a Doctor of Daffodils - but officially I'll be a Doctor of Town and Regional Planning - far more dull!
Anyway, moving on again... had a lovely day with my sister and her three small boys - chaos reigns as usual, don't know how anyone manages with more children than hands! (or in fact any children at all...(
Full of cold and feeling rotten now, but my mum's given me a lovely big woolly cast off cardi so at least I'm warm

LT - revisit all the stuff you did when you were first monitoring power use - and do as much as you can overnight if you have economy 7 which I think you do don't you? You can't just sit and shiver so by all means "put a woolly on!" but don't turn your heating off altogether will you!

i don't know how we managed to cope last night - our server was down so we couldn't get onto the tinternet.
spoke to my dad about the condensation running down the bedroom walls and have been given permission to turn on the storage heater in there (which we have done now) and currently have washing in the hallway with the dehumidifier on, i've got the internal doors open so hopefully it will help dry out all the rooms.
gonna do some more calendars today and bake some buns as a pressy for oh when he gets home as he's on a 12 hour shift, also may make home made pizza's as well for when he gets home.
suposed i'd best go get dressed and get a wriggle on.
I did clear 2 hotspots in the living room yesterday which makes me feel a little better and if i can get the calendars done i'll be able to clear a third.0 -
NO internet (insert horrified face)
Composing letter/email to my head of dept - dunno which way is best really - need allies (this is turning into a strategic battle) I need to lose the battle in a dignified manner with their support I think to win the war (ie get to continue as some kind of student and therefore finish up my work).
OH thinks I am insane and wants me to 'stuff the lot of them'. However, I am use to feeding mouths and clothing people etc - and not burning bridges. Therefore I need to be 'guided' by those who are in charge of the purse and the ability of me to continue on in some manner.
OR they can be silly and I can just forget the whole thing!
Support from family consists of DS asking alarmingly if that means his pocket money may stop
DD is lovely and keeps hugging me
OH is raging and offering to punch folks
Its a mixed bag this support lark.....................................:) but at least its there
We have a 'dept' lunch on Tuesday - dunno whether to go or not? I feel like a complete failure and don't know how much of it is self-inflicted with procrastination and messing about.......................will see
Had a hug from the farm manager on Friday (as burst into tears in tea room).
I don't do tears and farm managers do not normally hug - so clearly something has to get sorted out for all of our sanity!!!
He's lovely and supportive too and thinks I should look after myself.
Hugs to you all - LT I hope it warms up and dries out soon
Cheery daff - their commment did make me laugh, that's exactly what I am talking about - the ability to be rude no matter how they say it. I don't think their comment was particularily appropriate.
