Fay I think you have come so far on this PHD that it is a tough call on what to do.
If you give it up, will you have to move off the island? Ie what would you do for work up there? Just trying to be practical here.
Is it worth hanging in there until the next pay cheque comes? Might make things a bit easier, or would you have to repay that anyway?
I honestly think that you can do this IF you get the support you were promised and IF they stop beeping you around. What do your children and OH think of it all...?
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

I know Hun, we none of us like them, but if you get that pain back again it could be something like a grumbling apendix and if so it's important you get it sorted quickly. Hopefully it will have just been a one-off and you won't have any more problems though. Hey chaps
Chev I know what you mean - I am trying to find out what I can or can't do and then seeing what happens - I can't finish the 'review' bit in time for 12 weeks (give or take two weeks holidays, various trips away with work and so on). I am trying to work hard to show I am committed but slow (there's a phrase for you) but I dont want things dragged out over xmas.
Therefore I need to find out if I am better to be down graded and take it on the chin but keep my stipend for another year - OR if they don't think I can manage to write up at all - in which case I don't know what will happen
I have the assurance of an early pay check in Jan (tis arriving late dec) and so I am OK for a month or so anyway.
I want to keep on the project I just want the pressure to stop - aside a whizzy new laptop and lots of lovely (at least now regular comments) I still haven't got a scoobydoo how to make this magic literature stuff work in my head.
TBH I think if I work 24/7 over the next month I can't possibly do it - maybe its brain cells gone at my age, or a lack of focus or someat.
Whatever happens OH has assured me he's 100% supportive - I have a little leyway due to lodgers etc and I also think I'd almost manage for a few months until I can pick up some gardening if it came to it.
We won't be moving, not til 2014 - so something will turn up. My new found frugality is coming in very useful.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

at least you sound a little positive in your update. hope you can stay where you are workwise but without the horrible report to write up.
i'm feeling better again after sunday's episode (decided to not do too much last night - no change there then), so will try and get some more months done on the last two calendars i'm making. and i may even try to sort out one of the many carrier bags of 'tidied' items round the living room, they really do my head in.0 -

Sounds like a smart woman, your granny.
Well done on taking control of the situation and I really hope you manage to work it out with what you want to do. There is no shame in putting the brakes on and accepting that you aren't superwoman - in fact it should be applauded.
