course there's room for a stripy rug!

i had a little merry dance here when i cleared my overdraft. It was my first big debt to clear and for many a month/year my net pay wouldn't get me into the black. I have to admit i did it in two stages - moving all the transfers around so i went into i late thereby saving interest, then gradually knocking down the balance and reducing my limit every couple of months or so, and the major push was hearing stories of banks just shutting them down on a whim. Plus it's one of the few debts i could stop interest on by paying it off quicker. Sometimes i think loans are much harder cos you can't generally overpay them and save yourself money. Though at least with them you know every month the amount you owe is reduced.

Glad DS is getting better and you remembered the free sand.
We went shopping to Matalan today and spent a small fortune, mostly christmas pressies though i have to go back as a 3 for 2 didn't ring through properly so will call them tomorrow and tell them i'm coming back in just over a weeks time. Dont' want to waste petrol by doing an unnecessary trip tomorrow.

Also went to see 2012, not a bad film but not very exciting.

SO next its the horror who all us smurfs hate.........

    Gargamel

    gargamel.jpg

Gargamel is a nasty, sneaky and hypocritical wizard that lives in a horrible cottage in the heart to the forest. He hates Smurfs and does everything within his power to capture them. Luckily for them, he also happens to very stupid, so they have always been able to escape. But be careful, he has sworn revenge.

Gargamel is going to get a good battering - I am going ot put my PAD's into my savings account - they won't accept PAD's except on the phone and I am not phoning them everyday tooo complicated - then when I have enough I am going to try for a 30% off full and final settlement

SO I owe Gargamel £2660 at the moment
    30% would be £778 off
Balance to try and save up is £1862 (I dont feel bad about this as they must have charged me that much in fees, interest and late payment charges)

This one went out of control cos it was maxed - and when I moved back upto Orkney I didn't redirect my post - OH and I split up for a while, he didnt forward post on - but then again I didnt ask for any either - therefore it slipped through the net (and I forgot about it in the short term probably not by accident) so it defaulted (not proud of that) and when I finally got the letters from OH's house when we sorted things out -

Anyway - that's the plan - with PAD's I will see how long it will take to save up to offer them something for a full and final settlement. I am giving it no more than 3 months - I have to clear this one before I lose one of my lodgers in early February. As I am not sure I can relet that room in February as we've only got the lease til August at the moment.

Thats not much time - BUT - the lodger income is extra its the reason we are living here and therefore I can put it to the evil Gargamel.......

Insane but I want to keep this paying off stuff up - essential before or if OH ends up here as he's still not very 'frugal friendly'

lol my OH isn't very frugal friendly either.
Good luck with your next challenge, based on your recent history i think you'll have it more than sorted by 3 months time. Let the fight begin!

Thanks LT - its just the fear that comes with knowing our monthly income will drop by £300 in late January when the first lassie moves out - then by another £300 in May when the second lassie moves out - I need to have a 'heart to heart' with my landlord - he hinted we might be able to stay on longer (we love the house - but its expensive - although it means we have 1 or 2 rooms we can let). But I also don't want to nag........so will speak to him soon.

Also the money I must have wasted on food, late charges, interest etc - its frightening. Having your head in the sand certainly makes it worse not better - not just my OH who thinks its OK to eat like a king every night, eat out for lunch every day and just generally use money like water???:rotfl:
