you've been making great progress with your debts!

sorry to hear about DS hope he gets better soon.

re your comments about MIL - yes she looks like both a bloke and a witch, and is a hag to boot so they were pretty good representations of her.

got to get my act together this weekend, have to sort laundry, bingo, scrapbook calendars for chrissy pressy's, shopping, cinema (fingers crossed) and not spending too much money if any.
  • LT you sound like you have loads on

ANd you're certainly making real inroads with Diavolo!!!!! WOW and by the way how come you've manage to get your debt down to almost half so soon thats amazing?????

so soon????? it's taken me 3 and half years to get it to this stage, it's felt like it's taken ages, but i still think it wouldn't be so good if i hadn't found and married OH and i hadn't gotten a loan from the bank of mum and dad.
I'd got to the stage where the credit card was maxed, about to accrue interest and i couldn't afford the minimum payment and to also pay petrol or food. Worst of all by the time of my CC crisis i'd been trying to sort the debt for a year, but i just didn't have the disposable income and probably spent a little too much on crafting stuff. I'd spent a lot of years on a low income for my job and trying to keep a place on one wage, thankfully i did get some payrises and i have never relied on the extra pay since i started tackling the debt - i've used it to pay something off.
    phew!
now the plan is that by Oct 2011 the whole debt will be repaid so i've got to average £1k a month. Because of the news at work this week, i've got to try and get it done in 6 months less so i have to find on average £1256 each month, heaven only know's how i'll be able to manage that, guess i need to review what goes out and how i can reduce it.
  • I meant realatively in the scale of things :) - 3 1/2 years to pay that much back is amazing!

You're so switched on with your goals and how to achieve what you need to do, reviewing thing again is a good idea - I have found that my old review head isnt as tough as my new one - I think we're slowly changing our way of consuming which is ace!

I don't think twice now of NOT buying something - ran out of coffee last week - its not on this months list - but I do have 4 bags of nice coffee so thought OK no coffee this month to buy but I will make the most of using up the stuff I have and reducing how much of it I use - a few months ago skipping on something like that which I use to consider 'essential' would have been unheard of. Now I think OK its a luxury, I have lots of tea and other drinks, I dont need to run out and buy cofee and also probably a whole basket of stuff at the same time! Funny how we change how we think, so reviewing every so often is good I think.

Paying off over 20k in the time you have is amazing...............really well done!!

didn't mean to jump down your throat! lol
sometimes i feel really lax especially when compared to Hypno or others who are completely obsessive about their debt. i am but i still waste too much money.
Just done a summary of income and direct debits and because OH pays the food bills, i should have £87 left each month but surprisingly i never do. Probably because if i look very hard it's been spent on extra food, meals out, or craft stuff.

Isn't it strange just how often the words craft stuff apear in my comments. lol

I didnt think you'd jumped! I think lots of folks lose the 'my god I'm really doing great at this thing' - and as its a long haul - its so nice to say - hey you're doing so well!

BC (before kids) I would never have even thought of getting debt free or anything - you're doing ace

If the craft stuff pops up alot why not have a mini-tidy up of bits you dont want and either turn them into peedie craft packs to sell or make some extra cards for cash?
