  • Morning chaps - about to dash to work to water greenhouse and then pick up kiddietwiddies from airport

    CheeryDaff :) - good luck and keep on going - Writing is slow, teeth pulling and mainly slow!

    OH PhD thinking indeed very tricky stuff - leaving him to it - to be honest he'll do what he thinks is best for the future - which might smart a bit if he doesnt end up living up here and won't be an easy decision for him as there is a real opportunity for him to be here with his work.

    As I was the one who moved out and relocated up in Orkney to school my kids - it would be pots calling kettles black if I jumped up and down and stamped my stirpey feet too much.........I keep reminding myself of that one.

    My mum - who I don't really communicate with much - has just deposited some cash into the bank for DD cello contribution and DS birthday - gobsmacked its £200.....

    Must dash - BOB thanks for the advice am still thinking it through to be honest - the card is handy - but will see

    - and if OH does end up here my finances might be a bit more settled by having someone to split bills with :) and of course I'd have to explain to the dog that actually sleeping on the bed might not be an option any longer........

    The avvie is Pippilongstocking - I think GG was the one who said that my stripey socks reminded her of Pippi!!

    L haven't blown away but there's not many leaves left on trees

    EH - welcome to the dark side - I started shopping for the dreaded christmas in January this year (my excuse is that I only DO xmas every 2 years so when I am doing it I tend to squirrel things away over the year.....(sorry!))

  • Hope the children have had a good time.

    I know what you mean about a back up card, advice is just there it is really up to you what to do at the end of the day. I have purposefully not used mine and when they tried to rate hi jack one that i hadn't used for a while, i told them to put it where the sun don't shine. I didn't need it and i didn't need them to make an obscene profit off my back either.

    Think how great it'll feel when you're not paying debts off any more and can put the same amount into a savings account and cut all your cards up! :):)

    ~~~~~~~vibes for the lot of you~~~~~~~~~~~ hope whatever decision he makes out turns out to be the right one... Can he postpone PhD for a while? I'm sure the university would still take him in a year or two, and the funding might still be available then too, or he could say he was awarded it but had to decline because of circumstances and they might award it again?
    Just a thought :)
    <stops thinking>
    Can't comment on Orkney but the Outer Hebrides have very few trees - the odd one does attempt growth but the wind usually points out to it the error of its ways pretty quickly and it does the sensible thing and dies! :rotfl:
    lots trees here - but NO forests or anything
    1st credit just offered f&F OF £2015 for a debt of £2680 - doing sums and thinking about it - can't quite pay that much off yet - but if lodger girlies both pay up properly (one month rent each and the german lassie owes her deposit still) this month that will mean I might be able to breathe deep and pay their 900 either into the savings account until I can afford the f and f payment
    Or maybe I can phone and offer £???? and see if they are silly enough to take it?
    How has everyone got on with full and finals?
  • Give it a go, you never know. Sometimes the offers are on the table for a couple of months so could give you some breathing space.
