  • Whirrls in a burrl with the energy from Pipsmum (love the holiday photos btw!)

Got sausages out for tea tomorrow (with sprouting tatties and a bit bendy carrots and a reduced neep)

The boy child and I were having a discussion earlier about one or 2 packs of sausages - 4 of us to feed with lodger girlie in tow - only 8 sausages in a pack.

I got a row when I suggested 1 pack would be OK and tried to squirrel one back into the freezer.......LOL

He held them up and said MUM - one pack is 10p and the other is 56p - I think we can have both. (whoopsied bargains)

Has this boy never heard of frugal????

Consolled myself with the thought that if we dont eat them we can make something elsse with the leftovers - what have you all done to me????? :) I love it

Sorry for lots of posts at the mo, getting a bit nervous about writing so busying myself by annoying you lot. x

    Lol Fay :)

You've come so far! :):) It's such a cheery inspiration :) I trotted into your diary one day cos it referred to stripey socks AND adventures in the title - and what a stripey adventure it has been! And it turned out you live in possibly my favourite place in the whole world :) And are also stuck in PhD la-la-land :)

So hooray and bravo and well done I say :) And thanks for a positive, cheery, stripey adventure :):)

(and as for weddings... No, I've never done one! Haven't played flute outside house since school, but was chatting to boss about it one day, then few weeks later she'd decided she wanted a flute in the church, and asked me! So rather scary but good) :)

Right - writing and writing and writing for a couple of hours, then work at 1pm (yawn).

And I did laugh at the sausages! :)

So did I! Thats the point of frugal - you don't use more because you've got it cheap! Keep on trying to squirrel them away - 4 of you and 8 in a pack, even if you squirrel away 4, you're still on a winner! See, we just keep going! :)

Indeed - already have a cunning plan to cook them all and park 4+ into a bag (before they hit the table) for another mini-tea or brekkie or lunch.

Will slap the boy with a wet fish later on for his damn cheek and over indulgence.

I actually also thought if I made either 'frog in the bog' (toad in the hole - but no toads here) then I can probably make the 8 stretch to 4 people :rotfl:we have eggs etc

Then I can refreeze 8 or make a nice casserole for the next day when doing my first night class  and brother is babysitting, teenage squatting or whatever you call it when they don't really need a babysitter for safety more so they dont

    A kill each other
    B burn house down
C leave all lights on doors open and go out

    :D

    Peeide update

Just paid the whole balance off my Capital One CC (no expenses in yet - and its all expenses so decided to pay it all with some of the DSA money to avoid the interest and will use card to purchase some of the DSA stuff - by which time I hope the expenses will be in?) - so paid £379.63 today (its higher interest than the other card)

Chucked another £120 at the Lloyds one for the muse tickets from the Shetland trip - OH paid the other half so the tickets are now 'bought' - still up at 700+ this month due to expenses (STILL) not in but its slowly coming down (slowly)

PAD to evil edna is now at £400 - its in my instant online saver sitting next to the evil overdraft - it probably doesnt make alot of sense but if its just in the account I will probably use it for other debts and I need to focus on this one as its also more than the Lloyds CC for interest.

No paymetn from german lodger still (I trust her) but next week it will be due 2 months rent (one in arrears one in advance) + a deposit - as I am not 'using' the money in everyday budget its not really that much of an issue but I think I am going to have to ask 'when' it might arrive - her parents are doing it from Germany (sorry if whined about this before) but I thougth by now - it would be sorted? How can I gently nudge her without sounding like a right bag?

Mother offered to pay half of cello - bit of a shock - said too much but how about a contribution - thusly handed over bank details and will see what happens

Have decided to see if can afford a laptop for DD xmas if we can ask around the rellies for a contribution OH has offered £100 or so towards one or more if I need it - she gets almost nothing normally and school work is really kicking in - DS is going to his concert (no xmas pressie) and Switzerland next year - so as much as I don't do 'big pressies' I think she deserves something to keep which will help and be fun - I could recycle mine, but having looked at how much it would cost to fix everything that is wrong with it - its not a kick in the pants off a new laptop - am I insane?? Its a big pressie

I only do xmas every 2 years so last year we got stockings and a 'joint' pressie for the whole house.

    Is it too extravagent?

PS managed to stash half the sausages yesterday :)

Daddy (kids not mine) broke his jaw 2 days ago (ouch and he's OK) and is in frenchy hospital - so no idea how that affects the holidays - were were perhaps coming down - I might need IT training adn was looking at work budgets to see if I can time the 'trip' for that with the 'trip' for the kids comign down to go to France.

I am going to try for the DFD in August 2010 - which will take pressure off if I do stop/continue PhD financially - but I can only do such big overpayments if I have lodgers in the house - (house lease might expire next aug) so I need ot maximise the benefits of being in the house whilst I can.

    Phew!

    Waves to all.
