The revenge of the stripey socks - a DFW adventure

ps new lodger signed agreement - her parents need to sort the money side of things, I do hope they do it soon - but it will come eventually!
Also did two invoices for work (extra stuff ) and need to claim some expenses for the trip to Shetland (£30)
OH hears tomorrow if he's redundant or not.
Deep joy!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there. :beer:
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:

sounds like a real mixed bag at the moment fay and i can understand why you're feeling out of sorts. sending you stripey hugs.
fingers crossed that OH isn't made redundant so you have less changes to face.
I had an old work collegue visit yesterday who did her level best to make her life sound so much posher and richer than mine so i would envy her but i saw through the cracks and much prefer my life. I don't think she liked it when i said they needed to find cheaper ways of entertaining her OH's kids when they visit, as she was saying they spent £3k in 5 weeks, and they're in their late teens. I personally think it's just rediculous but what do i know? i'm not a parent0 -
LT - that's a ridiculus amount of money
I have 2 teenagers who were more than happy with extreme running off of sand dunes, cycle rides and chasing dogs on the beach, rock pooling, rock climbing, an ice cream and running about like lunatics in a forest throwing pinecones at OH in some mad star wars game or something and a game of football.
We splurged £20 quid in the book shop - but 4 hour car journey - 2 hour ferry ride - they had read hte books they brought down on the way down!!
Mind you the Muse gig will cost a bit, but that's a real treat NOT a normal expense of kid visits.
Maybe your pals OH is trying to spoil his kids to make a point - personally I think its a bit silly - well done you for seeing through it all.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there. :beer:

Hi Fay
I've not posted in a while but I've been keeping up with things.
You seem to be juggling everything really well and I hope you get good news tomorrow re: OH job.
I was in Matalan last week and thought of you as I bought a 3 pack of socks (a bargainous £2.50) one pair red and brown dots, pink pair with white and brown dots and stripy brown, red & cream!
A £10 pad to Evil Edna is really good going, don't feel bad if you need to dip into it in an emergency!I've got my own flat :j:j
Now I have to pay the bills :eek:
And feed my interiors addiction0 -
i think he's trying to buy his kids affection cos they live with his ex and he's terrified she's gonna poison them against him. all arvo she kept saying 'OH of course only wants the best!" so i suspect his kids aren't used to organising themselves. She looked at me completely gobstruck when i said the needed to find cheap things to do to entertain them
You don't have to justify yourself on books, i'd love them and can read like nobodies business.0 -
Hi Stripey friend:D
Just wanted to say thanks for the message the other day, it was much appreciated. Fighting my way out of the fog at the moment but each day is a little better.I have only made myself look stupid crying twice today:o
Hope your OH has good news on the job front.
Take care

Aw SM - no one looks stupid crying except maybe policemen or the guards at Buckingham palace. (((Hugs)))) I know how close you were to your lovely dad. You're a marvel and he'll be smiling at you always.
PS I am SO up for the live on £4k challenge in 2010!!
PPS the Darwin blanket is now fully adopted member of the family and came away on the family mini-break at the weekend without Darwin just so a bit of him could come - thank you so much!Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there. :beer:

OH in in 8 mins to hear one way or the other - eeek
Lucellie - Geranium oil - thanks for that will venture down later and find some
Make up - hello me dear - nice to see you about
LT - think you have hit the nail on the head.
Peedie money update
Money is tighter than a ducks Rear end on a frozen day in a frozen pond
BUT so far its all within the limits - stupidly I did a big payment to CC before I went away which disappeared into the ether until now - so it left me with no room on CC and no money in the bank - so have had to use a fair bit of evil edna money for dippage - but I know what I owe so it goes straight back later
All the spends are off the account today so I need to just breathe and sit tight until some lodger money appears and my WTFC comes in on Thurs.
Emailed the oil folks and cheekily applied for a £15 discount for doing things online, I am already a customer but not an online one, so am chancing my arm
Re did Martins Budget thing last night (I used it many times before to see how things are going) we are in Green but the household expense spends are high (over £1037 a month) - I really need to tackle that some more.
Incomes gone up - but so have the spends - we have to address it somehow.
4 mins to go - OH's jsut texted to say he's going in........Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there. :beer:

Hi Fay, any news yet?
~~~~~~~~~vibes for you and OH~~~~~~~~~
Sounds like you're doing a grand job, at least you're keeping your finances in the forefront of your mind which is always a good thing (although admittedly can seem a little dull at times!)
Good news on the computer etc, and the lodgersAnd evil edna's taking a good bashing, hooray!
All mostly ok hereTwo weeks left - aargghhh! And I'm actually working all day for at least 6 days out of the next 14 ! But supervisors made me apply for another month leave of absence, so hopefully will have to the end of October.
Doing lots of swearing at the computer, and lots of stuffing face, and burst into tears in the library at 11 last night...but did manage to get out for a run a few times this week...
Completely ignoring finances as not at work so have no incomeBut also have hardly any outgoings - most of what i spend is fed into the vending machine in the library... oopps... but that won't last for long, back doing some w*rk next week adn the week after.
<waves to everyone else>
Anyway, thought I'd have a quick pop in and throw a few good luck vibes your way (although not entirely sure which outcome you're hoping for...)
Let us know how you all get on!
Daffs
