Daily Update -
(thank you piq for the cunning update in a diff colour :A )
Yesterday - Paid the first extra payment off my 'scary hairy maclairy' loan :j
Whilst I know this isn't new to any of lots of you its really uncharted territory for me.
Added up going away this week (wont put it here as its too scary for a couple days away) Keep thinking argh maybe this should just go to debt - but we don't get much time together as the cherubs go to see daddy in holidays so its nice to have some time - will check out how much exactly and compare the two ferry companies.
I called scary credit card people (barclaycard - first credit) the interest is frozen on that debt I am not paying any - therefore I think it can wait
Decided having taken advice and talked it through the scary maclairy loan can get my extra attention first
New lodger girl money wasn't really expected so considering throwing the whole lot of that extra to the loan each month. ?
The loan seems to have the interest applied to the balance each three months (4% every 3 months I think - be gentle I am very new at this 16% - can that be right? I have had this loan since 2003 - many expletives if that's right:eek: ) so in my new DFW thinking - the more that's off the balance as quick as possible is the way forward???
It is actually (is this sad?!) quite exciting thinking - right sleeves up - come on RBS you Bleeps - you aint getting much more of my money as interest.
Busy day today - need finalise something for my evil supervisor
(I have 4 there is only one who is particularily worthy of being fed to rabbid sheep or given to a cannabil and eaten with a very little spoon):D
So......need keep him happy somehow or other - as I can neither (according to the evil one) 'write nor express myself clearly' this will be a challenge.
Dunno how to do the 'work out when you might actually be debt free bit' but will sort that out soon. OH seems a bit perplexed about my sorting things out?
Must email lodger girlie and sort out lease, deposit and first months rent.
Watch out scary hairy maclairy loan.
ps Hairy Maclairy is a funny wee dog in a kids book that looks like my dog ''peedie'':D

I think on a forum like this one then it just needs a bit of humour, courage and encouragement to get through these dark and difficult times.
I enjoy reading folks exploits and just often think that everyone is at their best when the chips are down so to speak...it amazes me that on a daily basis i can learn something new, a different approach, or just get a brilliant tip..
It's like having a good neighbourhood where everyone watches out for you and shares a laugh and a gossip over tea.
That's why I like islands.
You have the technology (email, internet etc)
You have a good choice of retail outlets but limited in so far as you can't shop 24/7 (shops close on sundays - shocking I know)
And you have a real feeling of no one 'pooping' on their own doorstep.
I dont know why folks can't just be nice xTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

It would stink your freezer out...but you could have fun thinking of suitable labels for it:rotfl: :rotfl:Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

I like the shops being closed on a Sunday...it still seems wrong to me, not that i am against it in principle..but i would rather relax on a Sunday rather than thinking i have to go shopping or push around the supermarket with the heaving masses..is totally bad in Tesco's on a Sunday:eek:
I live in a good neighbourhood. Folk think it is a bit rough, but the families have been here forever and everyone looks after each other. Elderly neighbours are shopped for and gardens mowed if someone is ill or can't manage. We even went to the pharmacy for a few neighbours before they started home delivery.Noone need be on their own or be stuck for anything, although as they all get older the geography of it all is changing..but i look on that as new opportunities to forge roots.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

TBH the Mr T's is here now and its open on sundays as are the other two I think, but no one else.
Boy child left his bike down at bus station Fri - monday - wasn't touched or moved or anything. When we lived at OH's we lost our bikes within a week of being there - couldn't decide if it was just bad luck or stupidity on our parts. We never locked things up before.
Kid's don't have mobiles, they can do their own thing (go swimming, or cruise the street or walk dogs or anything really) and aside from being blown over or getting a bit wet - no other real hassles here.
I don't generally whisper (lock) anything - very much ever maybe if away on holiday or something - dunno if that makes me niave or grateful. I know I should I just don't - its not really needed. Where I lived wiht my hubby you just left keys in car - that way you could find them again, if it went missing (it happenned sometimes) there was usually a reason like someone needed to borrow it or something cos it was raining or they needed something (not permenantly) :rotfl:
BOB - I love it when you get a sense of 'community'. That's ace always good when folks look out for each other.
Hear loads about garden 'thefts' and stuff south, seems so mindless and horrid
(I know there is crime everywhere and any crime is a terrible thing, but stealling (and I know its not a horrifc crime) from folks gardens and allotments just seems so very wrong)Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

I agree. When i was younger,it was unheard of to lock anything up at all. We all knew who the local thieves were and would go around and get it back..with a little help;)
Nowadays we still know who they are and have to be a bit more circumspect with it as apparently they have rights
It is usually the scrotes who think the world owes them a living and nothing can touch them, just scum really and that's what they will always be.
I sit on our local PACT committee and the stories amaze me at times, but also the community is quite strong and want things to change for the better. I am glad your children have that lifestyle they will grow up having a strong sense of self and realising how little they need to get through life...absolute bliss.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Hi Fay
I used to work for an art gallery and they had a special event where members of Torture Garden had a special evening event once. I was on the desk selling tickets and you have never seen such an inventive and crazy bunch of people...who knew so many people liked wearing latex!! At one point I was having a conversation with a man wearing a very lifelike wolf's head and somehow managed to pretend nothing was strange (now I'm wondering how he got the head, did he keep the rest of the wolf in the freezer????)
Someone else traumatised by Torture GardenCC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0
